Assign a conversation to a teammate, a team or nobody.

Help Scout API: https://cotlet.dev/docs/api/help-scout.md

`POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/help-scout/conversations/{conversation_id}/assign`

Access: write.

Sets the Assignee of the conversation, as the Assignee field in the Details card does. Assign to a user by name or email; a team needs the Plus or Pro plan; pass unassigned to clear it. Light Users cannot be assigned conversations, and the call returns that error instead of changing anything. Assignment reaches no customer and one call undoes it, so it does not ask for your OK.

## Parameters

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `conversation_id` | integer | yes | Conversation number from search_conversations. |
| `assignee` | string | yes | User name or email, a team name (Plus or Pro plan), or 'unassigned'. |

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
