# Update task status

MCP tool: `aroflo_write → update_task_status`

Access: write. Confirm: waits for the user's OK before it runs.

Changes the status and returns the old and the new value. Completed means the work is done and ready for invoicing or archiving. Another call with the old status undoes it. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool.

## Parameters

| `task_id` | string | yes | Task ID from list_tasks. |
| `status` | string | yes | Not Started, In Progress, Pending or Completed. |
| `substatus` | string | no | A substatus your site administrator set up. |
