# Assign conversation

MCP tool: `freescout_write → assign_conversation`

Access: write. Confirm: waits for the user's OK before it runs.

Sets the assignee of one conversation. user_id must be a person returned by list_users for that mailbox. The teammate gets an email about it if their Notifications are set up for that. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool.

## Parameters

| `conversation_id` | integer | yes | Conversation ID from list_conversations or get_conversation. It is not the #number shown in the list. |
| `user_id` | integer | no | User ID from list_users. Leave out to unassign. |
