# Change a user role

MCP tool: `quickbase_write → change_user_role`

Access: write. Confirm: waits for the user's OK before it runs.

Uses Change Role on the Users page: it selects the user by email and sets the new role. The user's access to the app changes at once, and the answer returns the previous role so you can switch back. Needs an App Admin or App Manager role, or the 'Manage users and share the app' permission. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool.

## Parameters

| `email` | string | yes | Email address of the user, as list_users shows it. |
| `role` | string | yes | New role name. It must exist in the app. |
