# Log time in Accelo with AI

> Log billable and non-billable time on Accelo tickets and projects from a short prompt instead of filling the timesheet at the end of the day.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/accelo-api-mcp-server/log-time-on-tickets-and-projects

The day ends, the timesheet is empty, and you rebuild from memory which ticket and which project got how many minutes, and whether each was billable.

Cotlet does it in your own Accelo account with list\_tickets, list\_projects and log\_time, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Accelo do this on its own?

Accelo logs time through the Log Time button, activities and timers in the app, and the API creates an activity with time (checked 17 Oct 2026). Accelo's MCP page lists logging time as coming, so today an assistant can read your time entries but not create them there.

## How you do it in Accelo today

1. Open the ticket or project and click Log Time at the top of the page.
2. In the window choose Start Time and End Time, or type the exact time into the box on the right.
3. Click the $ button to make the entry Billable or Non-Billable, then click Save Log.
4. The entry lands on your timesheet, which you review under Time > Timesheets, daily or weekly.
5. The remembering is the slow part, and entries logged days later tend to be rounded guesses.

## How to log time in Accelo with AI

Prompt

```
From my calendar and the tickets I touched today, log time in Accelo: 45 minutes on ticket 1042 for the export fix and 30 minutes on the Website Redesign project. Mark both billable.
```

1. 01
### Find the right object
list\_tickets and list\_projects match "ticket 1042" and "Website Redesign" to real IDs, and a name that matches two projects is reported for you to pick.
2. 02
### Log the entry
log\_time creates the entry with the minutes, the day, a subject and the billable flag you gave. Nothing is sent to anyone.
3. 03
### Respect the default
Time on a ticket or project is billable unless you say otherwise, so the agent sets billable false only when your prompt says non-billable.
4. 04
### Report what it logged
The agent returns each entry with its ticket or project and the total, so you can compare it with your own timesheet.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Logged 2 entries, 1.25 hours in total:
- Ticket #1042 Export fails, 45 min, billable
- Project Website Redesign, 30 min, billable
Not logged:
- "Call with Dana" matched no ticket or project, tell me where it belongs
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Friday, list the tickets I worked on this week that have no time logged and ask me for the minutes.
- Log 15 minutes non-billable on the Website Redesign project for internal planning.
- Show me what you would log today as a table and write nothing to Accelo.

## What Accelo allows, and what to know first

- Activities against Projects, Tickets and Retainer Periods are billable by default, and all other objects are non-billable.
- A timer starts on its own when you open an activity, and you can turn that off under User Profile Icon > Preferences > Privacy, Email & Activity Preferences > Autostart Activity Timer.
- Timers keep running when you log out of Accelo, and you can run several at once.
- Accelo can prompt you to approve the time on a ticket when its status changes to resolved or closed, before the time is allocated to an invoice.

log\_time changes only your own Accelo data and reach no one else, so it runs without asking first.

## Call log\_time from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/accelo/againsts/1042/times \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"against_type":"ticket","minutes":45,"subject":"Export fix","billable":true,"date":"2026-10-16"}'
```

Example response

```
{
"activity_id": 5564,
"against": {
"type": "ticket",
"id": 1042
},
"subject": "Export fix",
"minutes": 45,
"hours": 0.75,
"billable": true,
"date": "2026-10-16"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is accelo\_write → log\_time. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Accelo to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Accelo yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Accelo once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
