# Text back missed Aircall callers

> Find yesterday's missed Aircall calls, skip callers already handled and text the rest, daily from Claude Code, n8n or a script. Hosted.

A caller who reaches nobody rarely rings twice. Someone has to find the missed calls, check who was already called back, and text the rest before the lead goes elsewhere.

Cotlet does it in your own Aircall account with list\_calls, get\_conversation and send\_message, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Aircall do this on its own?

Aircall has no setting in Workspace that texts missed callers (checked 23 Oct 2026). The Messaging API can send follow-ups after missed calls, but it is not open to every plan and you build it yourself with an Admin-made API key. The official MCP server is read-only and leaves messaging out.

## How you do it in Aircall today

1. In Aircall Workspace the Calls view can show Missed calls, Voicemails and Callback categories, listing unanswered calls that belong to open conversations.
2. An admin or supervisor can find the same calls in Dashboard > Call History with the Call Type filter Inbound unanswered, for a date range.
3. To reply, the agent clicks Start conversation, searches the contact or types the number, selects Send message and writes the SMS by hand.
4. A callback request shows as a missed call tagged Callback Request, and the tag becomes Callback Request / Called Back once an agent has called the customer.

## How to text back missed Aircall callers

Prompt

```
List inbound calls on the Sales US line that nobody answered yesterday. Skip anyone who already got a callback or a message. Text each of the others that we missed them and will call back today.
```

1. 01
### Collect the missed calls
list\_calls runs with direction inbound, missed true and the line and dates from your prompt. Each row has the missed\_call\_reason, so the agent can leave out calls that came outside opening hours if you ask for that.
2. 02
### Skip who was already handled
A caller is skipped when the call has the Called Back tag, or when get\_conversation shows an outbound call or an SMS after the missed call. A text to someone your colleague just rang looks careless.
3. 03
### Check the number can text
Aircall sends SMS only from numbers in 14 countries, in the same country as the recipient (US to Canada works), and only from mobile numbers in the UK, France, Australia and Germany. The agent checks the line and the caller's number first and lists callers it cannot text.
4. 04
### Send one text each
send\_message goes out once per caller from the line they dialed, with the name when Aircall has it and your wording. It reaches a customer and cannot be taken back, so each text waits for your OK until you switch confirmation off for it.
5. 05
### Report the rest
The agent lists who got a text, who was skipped and why, and callers that need a phone call. It does not tag or call anyone.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Sales US, 22 Oct: 9 inbound calls missed
Texted 5, e.g. Priya Raman: "Hi Priya, sorry we missed your call. We will ring you back today."
Skipped 3 (already called back)
Cannot text 1 (landline)
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every morning, text voicemail callers the opening hours and list the others for me.
- Show the missed calls of the last 3 days with their reason, and send nothing.
- Text missed callers only if they called twice in one day.

## What Aircall allows, and what to know first

- Aircall allows SMS for US, Canada, UK, France, Australia, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland and Ireland numbers, and MMS only for US, Canada and Australia.
- SMS in Aircall is domestic: sender and recipient must be in the same country, with US and Canada as the one exception.
- In the UK, France, Australia and Germany only mobile numbers can send SMS, not Geographic or Local numbers.
- Aircall messaging is one-to-one, so each caller gets their own text.
- Call History in the Dashboard shows the last 6 months and updates every 15 minutes, not in real time.

send\_message asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call send\_message from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/aircall/messages \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"line":"Sales US","to":"+14155550142","body":"Hi Priya, sorry we missed your call. We will ring you back today."}'
```

Example response

```
{
"message_id": "msg_30417",
"conversation_id": "conv_5521",
"line": "Sales US",
"to": "+14155550142",
"status": "sent",
"sent_at": "2026-10-23T08:20:11Z"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is aircall\_write → send\_message. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Aircall to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Aircall yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Aircall once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
