# Request BambooHR e-signatures and chase pending ones

> Send a BambooHR signature template to new hires, find who has not signed and send reminders, without the Files tab or Signed Documents report.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/bamboohr-api-mcp-server/request-employee-signatures

The handbook acknowledgment goes out to each new hire, and a week later someone opens the Signed Documents report to see who still has not signed.

Cotlet does it in your own BambooHR account with list\_signature\_templates, list\_signature\_requests, request\_signature and remind\_signature\_signers, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can BambooHR do this on its own?

E-signatures are a native BambooHR feature in the Core, Pro and Elite packages, but only through the screens (checked 16 Oct 2026). The REST API reference has no signature endpoint, the beta MCP server has no signature tool and lists file metadata only, and the Zapier app has no signature action. Requesting and chasing signatures cannot be scripted from outside.

## How you do it in BambooHR today

1. An admin creates a signature template by uploading a document, setting the fields the employee fills in and choosing the folder where the signed copy lands in the employee's Documents tab.
2. To send it, the admin opens the Files tab, hovers over the template and clicks the signature button just left of the gear.
3. The employee gets a notification and signs from their BambooHR inbox; the signed file is saved to the folder chosen in the template.
4. The admin opens the Signed Documents report to see who completed and who is still pending, and sends reminders from there.
5. Each request is sent by hand per template, so a quarterly handbook update means repeating the same clicks for every group of employees.

## How to request BambooHR e-signatures and chase pending ones

Prompt

```
Send the 2026 Employee Handbook signature template to everyone hired this quarter who has not signed it. Then remind everyone whose request is still pending after 3 days.
```

1. 01
### Pick the template
list\_signature\_templates returns the templates on the Files tab. The agent matches the name in your prompt and stops to ask if two templates share it, so the wrong document never goes out under your name.
2. 02
### Work out who still needs it
list\_signature\_requests shows who already has a pending or signed request for that template. The agent leaves those people out and builds the recipient list from the rest of your rule, for example hired this quarter.
3. 03
### Request the signatures
request\_signature sends the template to the chosen employees in one call. It reaches people, so by default it waits for your OK with the full recipient list shown.
4. 04
### Chase after the waiting period
On the next run, the agent reads the pending requests again and picks the ones older than your limit. remind\_signature\_signers sends the reminders for those only, so people who signed yesterday are not nagged.
5. 05
### Report who is still open
The agent returns the pending list with request dates, so you can follow up in person with anyone who ignored two reminders.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Template: 2026 Employee Handbook
Requested: 3 (Ana Kowal, Tom Becker, Lena Ortiz)
Already signed, skipped: 5
Reminders sent: 2 (pending since 9 Oct)
Still pending after reminder: Jake Ortiz, Maria Silva
```

### Other ways to ask

- Send the Remote Work Policy template to everyone in the Berlin office who has no request for it yet.
- Do not request anything. Show me who has not signed the 2026 Employee Handbook and since when.
- Every Wednesday, remind everyone whose signature request has been pending more than 5 days.
- Ask each new hire to sign the Equipment Agreement on their start date.

## What BambooHR allows, and what to know first

- BambooHR's e-signatures are included in the Core, Pro and Elite packages.
- A BambooHR signature template sets the fields the employee fills in and the folder where the signed document lands in the employee's Documents tab.
- A .DOC or .DOCX file saved as a signature template is converted to a PDF automatically and renamed with a .pdf extension.
- BambooHR's Signed Documents report shows when employees completed their signatures and sends reminders for pending requests.
- BambooHR gives employees access to any document they signed, in their Signed Documents folder, because the law requires it.

request\_signature and remind\_signature\_signers ask for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for those tools in your dashboard.

## Call request\_signature from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/bamboohr/templates/sg_handbook_2026/signature/request \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"employee_ids":["412","418","431"]}'
```

Example response

```
{
"template_id": "sg_handbook_2026",
"requested": [
{
"request_id": "sr_7710",
"employee_id": "412",
"employee": "Ana Kowal"
},
{
"request_id": "sr_7711",
"employee_id": "418",
"employee": "Tom Becker"
},
{
"request_id": "sr_7712",
"employee_id": "431",
"employee": "Lena Ortiz"
}
],
"requested_total": 3,
"skipped_pending": 0
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is bamboohr\_write → request\_signature. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect BambooHR to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to BambooHR yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get BambooHR once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
