# Get a monthly Bandcamp sales report per release

> Net Bandcamp revenue per release and per artist for last month, with fees, shipping, tax and discount codes split out of the raw sales data.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/bandcamp-api-mcp-server/sales-report-per-release

At the start of the month a label owes its artists a statement, and a solo artist wants to know which release and which merch actually paid. Bandcamp has the numbers, spread over three reports on the Tools page.

Cotlet does it in your own Bandcamp account with export\_sales\_report and list\_sales, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Bandcamp do this on its own?

Bandcamp's Sales Report API returns the sales report, but only for labels and fulfillment partners that Bandcamp approves (checked 12 Oct 2026). Everyone else exports the revenue summary, payout statement or raw data report from the Tools page. None of them splits net revenue by artist on a label account or by discount code without a spreadsheet.

By hand

## How you do it in Bandcamp today

1. Open the Tools page in your Bandcamp account and choose the revenue summary report, a date range and either one release or the whole catalog, then export it.
2. For anything per artist, per discount code or per merch option, export the raw data report instead: a CSV with one row per sale, payout or reversal, dated in UTC.
3. Open the CSV in a spreadsheet, filter out the payout rows and sum the net amount column by artist and item name; Bandcamp names net amount as the column to use when splitting payments between artists.
4. Cross-check payouts against the payout statement or the Payments Summary page, also reached from Tools. The CSV has more columns than most people need, and one wrong filter quietly moves money between artists.

With an agent

## How to get a monthly Bandcamp sales report per release

Prompt

```
Build last month's Bandcamp report: net revenue per release, split by artist on my label, with shipping, taxes and discount codes shown separately.
```

1. 01
### Fix the month in UTC
Bandcamp dates every sale in UTC, so the agent sets the first to the last day of the month in UTC and says when that cuts differently from your local month.
2. 02
### Totals from the summary, detail from the rows
export\_sales\_report with revenue\_summary gives gross and net for the month. list\_sales gives the rows behind them, grouped by artist, then release, then merch option.
3. 03
### Keep what is not yours out of the split
Marketplace tax is collected and kept by Bandcamp for remittance, and shipping is income you spend on postage, so the agent reports both on their own lines instead of inside an artist's share. Fan contributions above the price stay with the release they were paid on.
4. 04
### Show reversals where they happened
Refunds and reversals in the month are subtracted from the release they belong to and listed by date, including ones for sales made in an earlier month.
5. 05
### Match the totals before reporting
The per-artist sums must add up to the revenue summary net. If they do not, the agent reports the gap and the rows causing it rather than a tidy but wrong statement.

### What you get back

Example data

```
September 2026 (UTC): gross $2,412.40, net $2,138.75.
Night Drive (Lumen Park): net $1,204.30, of which 12" vinyl $612.00.
Tour EP (Sora Vale): net $508.80. Tote and shirts: net $425.65.
Shipping collected: $186.00. Marketplace tax (kept by Bandcamp): $94.12.
Discount codes: NEWSLETTER on 11 sales, RADIOSHOW on 3.
1 refund: Night Drive LP, sold 28 Aug, refunded 4 Sep, -$24.10.
```

### Other ways to ask

- On the 2nd of every month, send each artist on my label their own Bandcamp line for the previous month.
- Compare Q3 with Q2 per release and tell me which one dropped the most.
- How much did the Night Drive vinyl net since release, after fees and shipping?

Before you automate it

## What Bandcamp allows, and what to know first

- Bandcamp collects its 10 to 15 percent revenue share at the time of sale (10 percent on a physical package and 15 percent on a digital album in its own examples), and payment processor fees come off on top.
- In the Bandcamp raw data report the transaction fee sits only on the last item of a cart, and a star marks a payment still pending.
- Bandcamp pays out to PayPal 24 to 48 hours after a sale by default, or monthly on the 1st; sales from the last two days of a month can miss that month's payout.
- Bandcamp sales reports carry a collection society share column for digital sales of tracks registered with a collection society, the publishing royalty Bandcamp collects for the songwriter or composer.
- On a Bandcamp payout statement, accounts that were on Standard Payments before June 2024 do not see physical merch sales from before that date, because fans paid them directly.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why is a big sale missing from this month's payout?

Bandcamp reviews higher-value purchases by hand, which can take up to 14 days, and sales from the last two days of a month can roll into the next payout. The sale still appears in the report for the day it was made.
