# Delete irrelevant Brand24 mentions and block junk sources

> Delete irrelevant Brand24 mentions and block junk sources by your own rule, with each call confirmed by you. Runs daily from your agent.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/brand24-api-mcp-server/clean-up-irrelevant-mentions

A Brand24 project for a common brand name collects mentions from coupon sites, scraped feeds and namesakes, and every one of them skews the mentions and sentiment charts until someone deletes it.

Cotlet does it in your own Brand24 account with list\_excluded\_sources, list\_mentions and delete\_mentions, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Brand24 do this on its own?

Brand24 has no rule-based cleanup (checked 23 Oct 2026). Its API reference has no endpoint that deletes or blocks a mention, and its MCP server documents only reads. Deleting and blocking stay manual in the Mentions tab.

## How you do it in Brand24 today

1. Open the project in the Brand24 panel and go to the Mentions tab, then narrow the list with the search bar, which accepts Boolean search, or with the filters.
2. Click Delete under a mention to remove it. Choose Delete and Block to stop the project collecting from that domain or social media author, or report the mention as SPAM.
3. To remove many at once, tick the box in the bottom right corner of each mention, or click Select all, and press the trash bin in the bulk actions bar.
4. Check what is blocked in the project settings under the Sources tab, where each excluded domain or author has a delete filter button that undoes the block.
5. Exclusions work for each project separately, so the same junk site has to be blocked again in every other project.

## How to delete irrelevant Brand24 mentions and block junk sources

Prompt

```
In the Northwind Coffee project, find mentions since yesterday that come from coupon sites or are about the Northwind street in Leeds. Delete them, block sources with two or more, and list anything unclear for me.
```

1. 01
### Read the exclusions first
list\_excluded\_sources shows the domains and authors the project already blocks. The agent skips them and does not propose a block that exists.
2. 02
### Pull the candidates
list\_mentions runs with a query built from your rule, sorted recent, over the window since the last run. The agent follows next\_cursor to the end. Each row carries the title, source and audience, so the agent judges what you would see in the Mentions tab.
3. 03
### Sort junk from noise
Clear matches, such as a coupon feed or a namesake, go to delete. A source with several junk mentions in the run goes to block. A mention that could be about your brand stays, with a one-line reason for you.
4. 04
### Delete in one batch
delete\_mentions takes the IDs of one verdict at a time. block\_source is set only for the repeat sources you named in the prompt, and mark\_spam only for clear spam. Both ask for your OK per call until you switch confirmation off.
5. 05
### Check the result
The agent reads the window again with list\_mentions to confirm the IDs are gone, then lists the blocked sources so you know what the project now ignores.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Northwind Coffee, since yesterday 08:00: 74 new mentions
Deleted 11 (9 reposts from coupon sites, 2 about Northwind Street in Leeds)
Blocked 2 sources: coupon-deals.example, @dailydealz
Left for you 3:
- "Northwind opens new store" (could be your brand)
- "Northwind Roasters review" (another company?)
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, delete mentions from the sources I blocked in other projects and block them here too.
- Delete mentions that contain the word "jobs" and my brand name, but do not block anything.
- List the sources that gave me five or more irrelevant mentions this month and wait for my OK before blocking.
- Mark obvious spam in the Northwind Coffee project every day and tell me how many.

## What Brand24 allows, and what to know first

- Brand24's Delete button has three outcomes: delete the single mention, delete it and block its domain or social media author, or report it as SPAM.
- A block applies to one project only. The excluded domains and authors are listed in that project's settings under the Sources tab, and delete filter reverses a block.
- Bulk actions in the Mentions tab cover four actions: delete spam, add a tag, change sentiment and add to a PDF report.
- The Mentions tab search bar takes Boolean search, so a rule such as coupon words without your product name fits in one query.

delete\_mentions asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call delete\_mentions from a script

curl

```
curl -X DELETE "https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/brand24/projects/123456789/mentions?mention_ids=7001234510&mention_ids=7001234511&block_source=true&mark_spam=false" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY"
```

Example response

```
{
"deleted": 2,
"blocked_sources": [
"coupon-deals.example"
],
"marked_spam": 0
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is brand24\_write → delete\_mentions. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I undo a deletion?

A block is undone in the project settings, Sources tab, with delete filter. The Brand24 help pages describe no way to bring back a deleted mention, which is why delete\_mentions asks for your OK by default.

### Is it safe to connect Brand24 to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Brand24 yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Brand24 once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click.
