# Create and send Fiken invoices from a list

> Create Fiken invoices from a billing list, add missing contacts and send each one by EHF, email or SMS. Runs from Claude Code, n8n or a script.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/fiken-api-mcp-server/create-and-send-invoices

Your billing list sits in a sheet or a time tracker, and at month end someone retypes each line into Fiken, picks the customer, sets the due date and sends the invoice.

Cotlet does it in your own Fiken account with list\_contacts, create\_contact, create\_invoice\_draft, create\_invoice and send\_invoice, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Fiken do this on its own?

Fiken has an API that saves invoice drafts, turns them into invoices and sends them (checked 14 Oct 2026), but it needs the 99 NOK per month API module and a script you maintain. Inside Fiken, Repeterende faktura under Salg → Ny repeterende faktura sends the same invoice at a set interval, which fits fixed amounts and not a list where hours or amounts change every month.

## How you do it in Fiken today

1. Click Jeg har solgt noe on the Fiken front page, or go to Salg → Ny faktura.
2. Set the invoice settings: days until the invoice is due, the invoice date and the bank account the customer pays to. If you leave them, Fiken reuses the settings of your previous invoice.
3. Click Velg kontakt to pick the customer, or Opprett ny kontakt; for a Norwegian company Fiken can look it up in Brønnøysundregistrene.
4. Add what you sold under Fakturalinjer with Velg produkt, Ny produkt-linje or Ny fritekst-linje (a free-text line needs an income account, Inntektskonto), then click Opprett faktura, which books the income.
5. In the next window choose how it goes out, EHF if the customer is registered for it, otherwise e-post, eFaktura, brev or SMS, and send it. Repeat for every customer.

## How to create and send Fiken invoices from a list

Prompt

```
Here is this month's billing list. For each customer, create the invoice in Fiken with the hours and rate I gave, due in 14 days, and send it by the customer's usual method. Create contacts that do not exist yet.
```

1. 01
### Match each line to a contact
Your agent calls list\_contacts for every name in the list and matches on organisation number first, then on exact name. A name with no match is created with create\_contact only when the list gives a name and an email; otherwise it goes on the "needs you" list.
2. 02
### Check the sums before anything is booked
The agent works out net, VAT and gross from your hours and rate before it calls Fiken. On a first run it stops after create\_invoice\_draft, so you can open the draft under Utkast and compare it with your list.
3. 03
### Create the invoice
create\_invoice books the income. Fiken has no delete for invoices, so a wrong one needs a credit note; the agent therefore compares the gross in the response with its own sum and reports any difference at once.
4. 04
### Send by the right method
send\_invoice with method auto lets Fiken try EHF, eFaktura, SMS and email in that order for the customer. The agent uses email only when you ask for it, and never letter unless you say so, because a letter costs extra.
5. 05
### Report what went out
The agent lists invoices created, how each was sent and who was skipped, with the invoice numbers. Each write waits for your OK by default until you switch confirmation off for it.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Billing list: 6 customers
Created 5 invoices, e.g. 10042 Nordlys Design AS: 15,000 NOK (net 12,000, VAT 3,000)
New contact created: 1 (Fjord Studio AS)
Sent: 5 (4 by EHF, 1 by email)
Left for you 1: Bergman Konsult has no email and no EHF registration
```

### Other ways to ask

- Create the invoices from this CSV as drafts only. I will check them under Utkast in Fiken and send them myself.
- On the 1st of every month, invoice each customer in the list for the retainer and send by email.
- Create an invoice for each paid order in this export and send it by SMS where I have a mobile number.
- Bill last week's tracked hours per customer and show me the totals before creating anything.

## What Fiken allows, and what to know first

- Fiken does not let you delete an invoice: the bookkeeping law requires a credit note that zeroes out all or part of it.
- The first time a company creates an invoice, Fiken asks which invoice number to start with, and the number series cannot be changed afterwards.
- Fiken proposes EHF when the customer is registered for it, and SMS can only be sent to Norwegian phone numbers.
- An email invoice can go as an attachment or as a link the customer clicks, chosen in the Lesebekreftelse field.
- A letter is printed and posted by a partner for an extra charge per letter, only to addresses in Norway, and it carries no attachments.

create\_invoice and send\_invoice ask for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for those tools in your dashboard.

## Call create\_invoice from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/fiken/invoices \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"customer_id":4021188,"issue_date":"2026-10-14","days_until_due":14,"lines":[{"description":"Consulting, October","quantity":10,"unit_price":1200,"vat_type":"HIGH"}]}'
```

Example response

```
{
"invoice_id": 5120331,
"invoice_number": 10042,
"customer_id": 4021188,
"customer": "Nordlys Design AS",
"issue_date": "2026-10-14",
"due_date": "2026-10-28",
"net": 12000,
"vat": 3000,
"gross": 15000,
"currency": "NOK",
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is fiken\_write → create\_invoice. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Fiken to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Fiken yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Fiken once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
