# Build a Findymail lead list from your ideal customer

> Describe your ideal customer, run a Findymail Intellimatch search with job titles and exclusion lists, and read the ranked results in your agent.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/findymail-api-mcp-server/build-lead-list-from-icp

A good lead search starts with a clear description and ends with a list you can send. In between, someone checks the credit balance, picks the exclusion lists and waits for the export.

Cotlet does it in your own Findymail account with get\_credits, list\_exclusion\_lists, start\_lead\_search and get\_lead\_search, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Findymail do this on its own?

Findymail's API runs the same Intellimatch search: it returns a hash, you poll a status endpoint, then read the results page by page (checked 23 Oct 2026). It has no MCP server, so an agent needs a wrapper with your API key that handles the polling and the credit costs.

## How you do it in Findymail today

1. You write a plain-English description of your target companies, for example "Agencies in Europe specializing in paid ads for e-commerce".
2. Findymail reviews company websites, scores how well each fits and explains its reasoning. Broad mode includes companies adjacent to your criteria, and targeted mode returns fewer results with higher precision.
3. You pick the job titles you want and choose emails, phone numbers or both.
4. You download the result as CSV or push it to a tool such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Instantly or Lemlist.
5. An exclusion list you uploaded earlier removes your current customers and past prospects from the results.

## How to build a Findymail lead list from your ideal customer

Prompt

```
Run a targeted Findymail lead search for agencies in Europe that run paid ads for e-commerce brands. Find 200 companies, look for a Head of Growth or VP Marketing and their emails, skip my Customers list, and tell me when it is done.
```

1. 01
### Check the balance
get\_credits reads the finder credits left. On a usage-based plan it reads has\_capacity instead, which turns false once the plan limit is hit, and the agent stops before starting a search that would be refused.
2. 02
### Pick the lists to skip
list\_exclusion\_lists gives the IDs of your lists. Findymail applies the global list by default, so the agent passes the list IDs you named, and 0 to keep the global list in as well.
3. 03
### Start the search
start\_lead\_search sends your description, the limit, the mode and up to 3 tiers of job titles in priority order. It spends credits, so the call waits for your OK by default. You see the limit and the mode in the confirmation.
4. 04
### Wait for the export
get\_lead\_search with the hash reports pending, processing, success or failed, with how many jobs are done while it runs. The status call is free, so the agent checks it again later instead of holding the chat open.
5. 05
### Read and rank
Once the status is success, get\_lead\_search reads the rows, up to 500 a page, with the match score, the company and the contacts found. The agent summarizes the best matches and what the search cost.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Search finished: 200 companies, 168 contacts, 143 emails
Cost on a credit plan: 200 + 168 + 143 = 511 finder credits
Top match: Northwind Logistics (94), Head of Growth, email found
Skipped by your Customers list: acme.io, globex.co
```

### Other ways to ask

- Run the same search in broad mode with a limit of 500 and show me only companies with a match score above 80.
- Every Monday, run this search for 50 new companies and add nothing that is already on my exclusion lists.
- Search for SaaS companies with 20 to 100 employees, find phone numbers too and tell me the cost before you start.

## What Findymail allows, and what to know first

- Findymail charges 1 finder credit per 10 companies, rounded up, in broad mode and 1 per company in targeted mode, plus 1 per contact and 1 per email found.
- A phone number costs 10 finder credits when found, and Findymail says phone lookup is non-EU only.
- A search takes a limit of up to 5,000 companies, with 100 as the default, and up to 3 tiers of job titles in priority order.
- The require\_email option needs both find\_contact and find\_email to be on.
- Checking the status and reading the data are free, and a page of results holds up to 500 rows.

start\_lead\_search asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call start\_lead\_search from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/findymail/lead-search/start \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"query":"Agencies in Europe specializing in paid ads for e-commerce","limit":200,"mode":"targeted","target_job_titles":[["Head of Growth","VP Marketing"]],"find_contact":true,"find_email":true,"exclusion_list_ids":[1204]}'
```

Example response

```
{
"hash": "f3b9a1c27d5e4086"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is findymail\_write → start\_lead\_search. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Findymail to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Findymail yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Findymail once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
