# Bulk reschedule GlossGenius appointments on a sick day

You wake up with a fever and the GlossGenius Calendar shows six clients from 9 to 5\. Before the first one leaves home, every appointment needs a new time and a message, and you are doing it from bed on your phone.

## Can GlossGenius do this on its own?

GlossGenius has no API for appointments (checked 12 Oct 2026). The help center describes editing or dragging appointments one at a time and has no bulk reschedule action. GlossGenius Reception, its AI receptionist, books, reschedules and cancels appointments when a client reaches out by call or text; it does not move a day of bookings because you are out.

## How you do it in GlossGenius today

1. In the GlossGenius app, tap Calendar, then the + icon, then Personal Block, and block the day so nobody books into it online while you work.
2. Tap the first appointment, tap Edit, change Date & Time, tap Save, and answer the pop-up that asks whether to send the client an update notification.
3. Or press and hold the appointment card on the mobile Calendar and drag it to a free time; the card snaps to 5-minute increments.
4. Before each move, scroll ahead in the GlossGenius Calendar to find a gap long enough for that client's services.
5. Repeat for every client of the day. A cut and color that needs a long gap is easy to drop on a slot that is too short, and a client you skip still shows up at the door.

## How to bulk reschedule GlossGenius appointments on a sick day

### Close the day first  
The agent adds a personal block over the hours you are out with block\_time, so the online booking site stops selling the gap while appointments move. If you are back after lunch, the block covers the morning only.

### Read each appointment in full  
list\_appointments for the day gives the list in start order. get\_appointment then shows the services, total duration and whether a deposit is attached, because a three-hour color needs a three-hour gap, not the first free hour.

### Find a slot per client, longest first  
The agent places the longest appointments first, since short services fit into leftovers. It asks find\_open\_slots with the same service IDs over the range you allowed, prefers the same weekday and a similar time, and never offers a slot that is already promised to another client in this run.
4. 04  
### Show the plan, then move  
Before any change you see every client with the proposed new time and the ones it could not place. Each reschedule\_appointment call waits for your OK and sends the client the email and text update unless you switch notify\_client off for someone you would rather call.
5. 05  
### Report who is left  
If a slot was taken while you were approving, the agent asks for open slots again instead of forcing the time. Clients with no gap in the range stay where they are and appear in the summary with their phone number, so you decide whether to call or cancel.

### Other ways to ask

- I am out Friday and Saturday. Block both days and move everyone to the following week at the same time of day if it is free.
- Move only my afternoon clients today to tomorrow afternoon, and do not notify anyone until I check the list.
- Ria is sick tomorrow. Move her clients to Sam where Sam offers the same service, and list the ones only Ria can do.
- Show me which of today's clients could be moved into this week, without moving anyone yet.

Before you automate it

## What GlossGenius allows, and what to know first

- GlossGenius sends the client update by email only when you edit an appointment in the mobile app; the web browser offers Notify Client via Email & Text, so clients without an email on file hear nothing from a phone edit.
- A deposit in GlossGenius stays attached when you move the appointment yourself, but if the appointment is cancelled and booked again, the deposit stays on the cancelled one and cannot be transferred.
- GlossGenius keeps no in-app list of rescheduled appointments; the email notification sent at the time shows the original and the new date and time, and GlossGenius support can look up earlier changes on request.
- GlossGenius personal time blocks are invisible to clients booking online, including their description, so "Sick day" on the block is never shown to anyone.

block\_time and reschedule\_appointment ask for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for those tools in your dashboard.
