# Kiwi.com online check-in: add travel documents and get boarding passes

With several Kiwi.com bookings in the coming weeks, one trip page easily stays without passport details until the 24-hour cutoff has passed. The night before each flight you then look for the boarding pass in the Kiwi.com app.

## Can Kiwi.com do this on its own?

Kiwi.com has no API for travel documents or boarding passes (checked 12 Oct 2026), and its official MCP server only searches flights. Automatic check-in comes with the Kiwi.com Guarantee: once your details are on the trip page, Kiwi.com checks you in and notifies you when the passes are ready. We found nothing in Kiwi.com's help center that goes through all your bookings and tells you which one still lacks details, and the passes stay in the app, the email or the trip page rather than in a folder you pick.

## How you do it in Kiwi.com today

1. Sign in at kiwi.com/user and open the trip from the list of your bookings.
2. On the Kiwi.com trip page, add the travel document details the airlines require, usually the ID or passport number and its expiry date, for every passenger and no later than 24 hours before departure.
3. Wait for the airline to open online check-in, usually one or two days before the flight; Kiwi.com then checks you in on every flight of the itinerary and notifies you.
4. Open the boarding pass in the Kiwi.com app, which also works offline, or tap below the mobile pass to download the original PDF for printing.
5. Repeat this for every booking and every traveler. A trip booked weeks ago without details is easy to forget, and after the cutoff you check in with each airline yourself.

### Find the trips at risk  
The agent calls list\_trips and keeps the upcoming trips flagged as missing documents. A trip leaving in under 24 hours goes to the top of the report as "check in with the airline", because Kiwi.com no longer takes details for it and adding them would change nothing.

### Match each traveler to a document  
get\_trip names every passenger and the fields still open. The agent fills a passenger only from a document you saved for that exact name. A companion with nothing on file is listed for you instead of guessed, and a passport that expires before the return flight is held back with a note.

### Send the details with your OK  
add\_travel\_documents hands passport data to the airlines, so each call waits for your OK unless you switched that off. The agent sends one traveler at a time and reads get\_trip again to confirm that nobody still appears as needing details.

### Collect passes when they exist  
On flight days the agent calls get\_boarding\_passes. An empty list while the airline has not opened check-in is normal, so it tries again on the next run instead of raising an alarm. Ryanair flights get checked until 2 hours before departure.

### Call out a failed check-in  
If a non-Ryanair flight still has no pass 6 hours before departure, the agent tells you to check in with the airline now and to keep the receipt of any airport check-in fee.

Before you automate it

## What Kiwi.com allows, and what to know first

- Kiwi.com accepts travel document details on the trip page until 24 hours before departure; after that cutoff you check in with each airline directly, online or at the airport.
- Kiwi.com does not refund an airport check-in fee, which some low-cost airlines set as high as €55 per passenger, when you missed its 24-hour deadline. When you gave your details on time and its check-in failed, Kiwi.com reimburses that fee against the receipt.
- Kiwi.com aims to deliver boarding passes no later than 6 hours before departure, with Ryanair as the exception at up to 2 hours before.
- Kiwi.com online check-in asks for the identification number and its expiry date; visas are shown at the airport and are not entered during online check-in.
- When you check in with an airline yourself instead of through Kiwi.com, the boarding pass comes from that airline, not from Kiwi.com.

add\_travel\_documents asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

### Does it handle visas or an ESTA?

No. Kiwi.com does not ask for visa details during online check-in; you show the visa at the airport. Electronic travel authorizations such as the UK ETA or the US ESTA must be obtained before departure, and Kiwi.com says it is not responsible for obtaining them.
