# Create follow-up tasks for stale Kommo leads

> Find Kommo leads stuck in a stage with no open task and give each a follow-up task that says what to ask. Runs daily, you approve each one.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/kommo-api-mcp-server/chase-stale-leads-with-follow-up-tasks

A lead sits in the Proposal stage for two weeks with no task on it, and the next time anyone looks the buyer has gone quiet.

Cotlet does it in your own Kommo account with list\_leads, list\_tasks, get\_lead and create\_task, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Kommo do this on its own?

Digital Pipeline has an Add task trigger that creates a task when a lead enters a stage, with a deadline from a preset list and a fixed comment (checked 20 Oct 2026). Bulk edit adds one task to the leads you select. Neither looks at a lead that has stayed in a stage for weeks, and neither reads the lead to write what the follow-up should ask.

## How you do it in Kommo today

1. The manager opens Pipelines → All leads, clicks the Search and filter bar and picks the preset for leads with overdue tasks, or a custom filter such as responsible user, pipeline stage and date of creation.
2. In each lead, the manager clicks Chat, chooses Task, picks a deadline, a responsible user and a type (Follow-up or Meeting), adds a comment and clicks Set.
3. For a group of leads, the manager uses the three dots menu and Select multiple (or the checkboxes in list view) and runs the Add tasks bulk action.
4. The task appears in Calendar, and Kommo reminds the responsible user about upcoming or overdue tasks in the interface, by email or on the phone.
5. Finding the leads with no task at all is the part that gets skipped, because a lead without a task shows up in no reminder.

## How to create follow-up tasks for stale Kommo leads

Prompt

```
Find leads in the Proposal stage of the Sales pipeline that have no open task or an overdue one. Create a Follow-up task for each, due in 2 days, assigned to the lead owner, with a comment that says what to ask.
```

1. 01
### List the stage
The agent reads the leads in the stage you named with list\_leads, filtered by pipeline and stage, and follows next\_cursor to the end. Each lead comes with the due date of its closest task, which is empty when it has none.
2. 02
### Find the ones nobody is chasing
Leads with no open task, and leads whose task is overdue (list\_tasks with status overdue), are kept. A lead with a task due in the future is left alone, so nobody gets two reminders.
3. 03
### Read the lead
get\_lead brings the notes and the contact, so the comment on the task is specific ("Proposal sent 12 Oct, ask if the quote needs changes") and not a generic "follow up".
4. 04
### Create the task
create\_task adds a Follow-up task to the lead, with the deadline you set and the lead owner as the responsible user. The owner is reminded by Kommo, so each task waits for your OK by default.
5. 05
### Report what was skipped
Leads whose task type or user does not exist in your account are listed with the reason, never given a guessed one.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Leads in Proposal: 23
Tasks created 14, Follow-up, due Oct 22, e.g. "Yoga studio booking": "Proposal sent 12 Oct, ask if the quote needs changes"
Skipped 7 (open task due later)
Left for you 2: no responsible user on the lead
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, create a Meeting task for leads in Negotiation with no task, due Friday.
- List leads with overdue tasks for each manager and create nothing.
- For leads created this month with a task type I added, create a task of that type in 3 days.
- Create tasks for the stage Contacted only, due the end of the day.

## What Kommo allows, and what to know first

- Kommo has two built-in task types, Follow-up and Meeting, and only Admins can add more under Calendar → … → Manage event types.
- A Kommo task is linked to a lead or contact and has a deadline, a responsible user, a type and an optional comment.
- The Add task trigger in Digital Pipeline offers deadlines of Immediately, End of the day, In 1 day, In 3 days, End of the week, or a custom number of days, hours and minutes.
- Tasks work on every Kommo plan, including the 14-day trial.
- A lead dropped on Won or Lost leaves the active pipeline, so this job covers open leads only.

create\_task asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Kommo to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Kommo yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Kommo once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
