# Add notes to Lever candidate profiles with AI

> Turn call summaries into Lever notes with @mentions and tags, on the right candidate profile, from Claude Code or a script.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/lever-api-mcp-server/log-notes-on-candidate-profiles

A recruiter finishes a call, pastes rough bullets into a chat and still has to open Lever, find the profile, type the note, @mention the hiring manager and add a tag.

Cotlet does it in your own Lever account with list\_opportunities, get\_opportunity, add\_note and update\_tags, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Lever do this on its own?

Lever's Data API creates notes with @mentions, a secret flag and notifyFollowers (POST /opportunities/:opportunity/notes) for customers with an API key, and has no MCP server (checked 22 Oct 2026). In the app, a note is typed on the profile itself.

## How you do it in Lever today

1. At the top of the candidate profile, click the Add note field and type. Check Notify followers to alert followers, then click Add note.
2. To get a colleague's attention, type @ and the user's name and pick them from the pop-over. Only users added to Lever can be mentioned.
3. To keep a note private, click the toggle in the lower left corner of the note box to make it a secret note.
4. Notes from all of the candidate's opportunities are listed together in the story on the profile, newest first.
5. Lever emails every @-mentioned user and the user cannot switch those emails off, so a wrong mention lands in someone's inbox.

## How to add notes to Lever candidate profiles with AI

Prompt

```
Add this to the Lever profile of aisha.khan@example.com: "Call 22 Oct: wants hybrid, two weeks notice, salary band fits." Mention Sam Okafor and tag her strong-referral.
```

1. 01
### Find the profile
list\_opportunities runs with the candidate email from your prompt. When the email matches more than one opportunity, the agent asks which posting you mean instead of choosing.
2. 02
### Check where the note lands
get\_opportunity shows the stage, posting and followers, so the agent can tell you where the note goes before writing it.
3. 03
### Write the note
The agent keeps your words and tightens them to short lines. It mentions only the users your prompt names, written as @name the way Lever expects, and marks the note secret only when you say so.
4. 04
### Save the note
add\_note saves it on the opportunity. It waits for your OK by default, because a mention emails the person at once.
5. 05
### Tag the candidate
update\_tags adds the tags you named. It reaches nobody and is undone by one call, so it does not wait for your OK.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Aisha Khan, Senior Designer, stage Recruiter screen
Note added, not secret, Sam Okafor mentioned
Followers not notified
Tags now: portfolio-strong, strong-referral
```

### Other ways to ask

- After every call I paste here, add the summary as a secret note and mention nobody.
- Add this debrief to Marco Silva and Tom Becker and notify followers.
- Tag everyone I list with talent-pool and add one line saying why.

## What Lever allows, and what to know first

- Lever lists the Super Admin, Admin, Team Member and Limited Team Member roles for adding notes, so the account behind this job needs one of them.
- A secret note is visible only to users with Sensitive Information Privileges for the candidate's postings and to users who are @-mentioned in it.
- A user with Interviewer access who is @-mentioned receives the note by email but cannot open the candidate profile.
- Lever sends the email to a mentioned user even when that user turned off every notification type.

add\_note asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call add\_note from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/lever/opportunities/5c3d8a17-e2b4-49f6-8d01-7a9b6c4e2f05/notes \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"text":"Call 22 Oct: wants hybrid, two weeks notice, salary band fits. @sam please review her portfolio.","secret":false,"notify_followers":false}'
```

Example response

```
{
"note_id": "e5b09a72-4c18-4d63-9f2a-6a1c8d3b7e90",
"opportunity_id": "5c3d8a17-e2b4-49f6-8d01-7a9b6c4e2f05",
"secret": false,
"mentioned": [
"Sam Okafor"
],
"followers_notified": false,
"created_at": "2026-10-22T09:20:00Z"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is lever\_write → add\_note. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Lever to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Lever yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Lever once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
