# Schedule Libsyn podcast episodes with an AI agent

> Your agent uploads the Libsyn audio, fills the Add Episode details from your notes and schedules one release for every destination.

The edit is done and the file sits in a shared folder. Someone still has to open the Libsyn Add Episode form, upload the audio, paste the show notes, check the season and episode number and pick the release slot, every week.

Cotlet does it in your own Libsyn account with list\_episodes, upload\_media, create\_episode and schedule\_episode, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Libsyn do this on its own?

Libsyn schedules releases in its dashboard and its Episode Defaults can preset a release delay or a weekday, but there is no public API for Basic to Max plans (checked 12 Oct 2026). The FTP quickcast folder publishes as soon as the upload finishes, with title and notes taken from the file's ID3 tags, so it cannot hold an episode for a later date. The Add Episode form still has to be filled by a person each week.

By hand

## How you do it in Libsyn today

1. In Libsyn, click New in the upper-right corner, then Episode, and drop the mp3 or mp4 onto the Media File Uploader at the top of the Add Episode form.
2. Fill the Episode Details section: Episode Title, Description (the show notes), Apple Podcasts Title, Season Number, Episode Number, Episode Type, Rating and Episode Tags.
3. In the Availability field of the Schedule section choose Schedule Episode and set the date and time; Libsyn releases it at that moment, with one date for every destination the show is connected to.
4. Move through the Assets tab (widescreen artwork, transcript) and, with automatic ads on, the Advertising tab, then click Publish.
5. The same form is filled from scratch for every episode. A file name already used in the show makes the upload fail, and an episode number copied from last week ends up on two episodes.

With an agent

## How to schedule Libsyn podcast episodes with an AI agent

Prompt

```
Upload ep-142.mp3 from our bucket, use notes.md as show notes, make it season 3 episode 12 and schedule it for Thursday 6:00 New York time.
```

1. 01
### Check the slot and the numbering
Before uploading, the agent reads list\_episodes with status scheduled and draft. If another episode already sits in the same release slot, or the episode number you gave is already used in that season, it stops and shows you both instead of creating a duplicate.
2. 02
### Upload under a name Libsyn accepts
upload\_media fetches the file from your bucket. If Libsyn rejects the name because a file with that name exists in the show, the agent retries once with a \_v2 suffix and tells you, rather than overwriting anything.
3. 03
### Build the draft from your notes
create\_episode gets the title, notes.md converted to HTML, season, number and type. The agent keeps "Episode 12" out of the title it would also use for Apple Podcasts and warns you when the notes run past 4,000 characters.
4. 04
### Convert the time once, then ask
Your "Thursday 6:00" becomes an ISO time with your zone, and the agent shows the exact release time with the draft before calling schedule\_episode. That call asks for your OK by default, because the release reaches every connected destination.
5. 05
### Stop on a first episode
Libsyn requires a show's first episode to go out with Immediately on Publish. On a show with no published episodes the agent leaves the draft in place and asks whether to publish now instead of scheduling.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Uploaded ep-142.mp3 (48.2 MB) to The Solo Founder Show.
Draft 38415502 "Pricing your first product", season 3, episode 12, full, clean.
Show notes: 2,140 characters, 3 links, within the Apple Podcasts limit.
Scheduled for Thu 15 Oct 2026 06:00 New York time after your OK.
Next free Thursday slot: 22 Oct. Episode 13 is not drafted yet.
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, take the newest file in /exports/final, draft it with notes from the matching Google Doc and schedule it for Thursday 6:00.
- Upload the three bonus episodes in /bonus as drafts only, episode type bonus, and do not schedule anything.
- Move the episode scheduled for 22 Oct to 29 Oct and tell me what else is scheduled that week.
- Publish the draft "Live Q&A recap" now instead of waiting for Thursday.

Before you automate it

## What Libsyn allows, and what to know first

- Libsyn rejects an upload whose file name matches any file already in the show, even one not attached to an episode, and suggests adding something like \_v2 to the name.
- Libsyn plans are metered by monthly upload storage in MB (162 MB on Basic, 540 MB on Advanced); the audio hours on the pricing page are estimates at 128 kbps, and active files are archived at midnight GMT on the first of each month, when the quota resets.
- Libsyn requires Immediately on Publish for a show's first episode, so scheduling only works from the second episode on.
- Libsyn Episode Defaults (Settings > Episode) add one to the default Episode Number after every publish and can preset Delay Until Next Day of Week as the release type.
- Libsyn's help asks for an Apple Podcasts Title without the show name or episode and season numbers, because Apple shows those elsewhere.

schedule\_episode asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does the monthly storage limit change if the agent uploads?

No. Every upload counts toward your Libsyn plan's monthly storage the same way a dashboard upload does, and the quota resets at midnight GMT on the first of the month.
