# Add a shortlist of candidates to a Manatal job

> Add candidates from your Manatal database to a job by your own rule on tag and position, skip those already on it, and move them to a stage.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/manatal-api-mcp-server/shortlist-candidates-for-a-job

A new job opens, you already know which people in the database fit, and each one still has to be added to the job by hand.

Cotlet does it in your own Manatal account with get\_job, search\_candidates, list\_job\_pipeline, add\_candidate\_to\_job and move\_candidate\_stage, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Manatal do this on its own?

Manatal's MCP server has search\_candidates and add\_candidate\_to\_job, Enterprise Plus only, and Zapier needs API access too (checked 20 Oct 2026). AI Candidate Recommendations, in Beta, ranks candidates from your database for a job and can add them in bulk, but it ranks by Manatal's scoring and not by your own rule on tag and position.

## How you do it in Manatal today

1. From any job page, click the three dots at the top right.
2. Click Add Candidate.
3. Click the + icon next to each candidate you want on the job. Their profile then shows on the job page.
4. Drag a card to the stage it belongs in, by holding the mouse button and releasing over that stage.
5. A shortlist of 20 is 20 clicks plus the stage drags, and a candidate added twice is easy to miss.

## How to add a shortlist of candidates to a Manatal job

Prompt

```
Find candidates tagged design with Product Designer or UX Designer as current position, skip anyone already on the Product Designer job and add the rest to it.
```

1. 01
### Read the job
get\_job returns the title, organization and pipeline stages, so the agent knows which stage names it may use and which job it is working on.
2. 02
### Find the people
search\_candidates runs with your rule, for example tag design and a position title. The agent shows how many matched and lists any it is unsure about, such as a candidate whose position is blank.
3. 03
### Skip those already on the job
list\_job\_pipeline returns everyone on the job. A candidate who already has a match is left out, so nobody is added twice. One candidate can be on many jobs, and that is fine.
4. 04
### Add them
add\_candidate\_to\_job links each candidate to the job and returns a match id. It adds a person to a job team's pipeline view, so it waits for your OK by default.
5. 05
### Place them in a stage
If you named a stage, move\_candidate\_stage places each new match there. A stage name the job does not have fails at once, and the error lists the job's stages.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Job: Product Designer (Northwind Studio)
Matched your rule: 9 candidates
Already on the job: 3
Added 6, e.g. Daniel Reyes, Mei Tanaka
Moved to Applied: 6
```

### Other ways to ask

- Add every candidate I tagged this week to the Sales Manager job and leave them in the first stage.
- Show me who would match for the Backend Engineer job from the database, add nobody.
- Add Daniel Reyes and Mei Tanaka to Product Designer and move both to Interview.

## What Manatal allows, and what to know first

- A match is the link between a candidate and a job, and one candidate can have several matches.
- Manatal's candidate tags let recruiters categorize profiles, and an admin manages the tag list.
- Moving a card between stages is a drag in the job pipeline view, and each stage can be sorted from its three-dots menu.
- Which candidates you see depends on your role: Manager, Consultant and Recruiter only reach public organizations and the jobs of their own teams.

add\_candidate\_to\_job and move\_candidate\_stage ask for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for those tools in your dashboard.

## Call add\_candidate\_to\_job from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/manatal/jobs/3107/candidates/48213/to-job \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY"
```

Example response

```
{
"match_id": 55140,
"candidate_id": 48213,
"job_id": 3107,
"added_to_job_on": "2026-10-20"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is manatal\_write → add\_candidate\_to\_job. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Manatal to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Manatal yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Manatal once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
