# Reply to Nextdoor recommendations from your Business Page

> Thank each neighbor who recommends your Nextdoor business by name, and get careful drafts for negative recommendations before anything posts.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/nextdoor-api-mcp-server/reply-to-recommendations

A neighbor recommends you after a job, Nextdoor sends a notification, and the thank-you waits until someone switches to the business profile and opens Page. A week later there are five new entries in What neighbors say, one of them unhappy, and none has a reply.

Cotlet does it in your own Nextdoor account with list\_recommendations and reply\_to\_recommendation, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Nextdoor do this on its own?

Nextdoor has no API to read recommendations or reply to them (checked 12 Oct 2026). The Publish API is write-only and open to approved partners, and the Nextdoor app on Zapier has one New Lead trigger and no actions. Inside Nextdoor a reply is typed by hand from the notification or the What neighbors say section, and we found no auto-reply or reply template for recommendations in the Nextdoor help center.

By hand

## How you do it in Nextdoor today

1. Log in to Nextdoor or switch to the business profile, then select Page from the menu panel on the left on web (tap Page at the bottom on mobile).
2. Scroll or tab to the What neighbors say section of the Business Page.
3. Read each entry. Nextdoor puts recommendations written on the page there, together with posts and comments where a neighbor @mentioned the business.
4. Comment on the recommendation as the business. Neighbors who meet that post in the newsfeed see the business reply there as well.
5. Repeat for every notification. A tagged post from two weeks ago is easy to miss among newer ones, and a negative recommendation tends to sit unanswered while you decide what to say.

With an agent

## How to reply to Nextdoor recommendations from your Business Page

Prompt

```
Thank everyone who recommended us since last Monday, by name and job, and hold any negative recommendation for me as a draft.
```

1. 01
### Collect only what is new
The agent calls list\_recommendations with since set to the date of the last run and unanswered\_only switched on. A neighbor thanked last week is not thanked a second time.
2. 02
### Separate praise from complaints
Each recommendation is read in full before any draft. A warm one gets a short thank-you that names the neighbor and the job they mention, such as the gutters or the Saturday repair. One that describes a bad experience is taken out of the batch and handled on its own.
3. 03
### Draft a negative reply with care
For a complaint the agent writes a calm answer that states the facts as you know them and offers to sort it out privately. It keeps out words such as liar or dishonest that break Nextdoor's guidelines, and it never posts this draft without you reading it first.
4. 04
### Post one reply per neighbor
After your OK, reply\_to\_recommendation sends each thank-you separately. A tag in someone else's post that asks for quotes rather than praising you is listed for you, not answered, because a business reply there joins a neighbor's discussion.
5. 05
### Hold anything doubtful
Text that seems to describe another business, mentions a competitor or looks like a guidelines violation gets no reply. The agent flags it so you can decide whether to contact Nextdoor support.

### What you get back

Example data

```
7 new recommendations since 5 Oct 2026, 6 replies drafted.
Posted after your OK: Dana K. (Oak Park), Marcus L. (Riverside), Elena V. (Maple Hill), Tom B. (Oak Park), Grace W. (Riverside).
You edited the reply to Tom B. before it went out.
Held for you: Priya S. (Maple Hill) says the crew left debris on her driveway. Draft offers a return visit and asks her to message the page.
Not answered: Ken J. tagged you in a post asking neighbors for gutter quotes.
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, thank everyone who recommended us last week and send me the negative ones as drafts only.
- Draft a reply to Priya S. about the driveway. Keep it short, apologize once and offer to come back this week.
- Go through every recommendation from this year and reply to the ones we never answered.

Before you automate it

## What Nextdoor allows, and what to know first

- Nextdoor lists recommendations under the What neighbors say tab of the Business Page, including posts and comments where a neighbor @mentioned the business.
- Only Nextdoor neighbors can recommend a business, and Nextdoor says more recommendations in a neighborhood rank the page higher in that neighborhood's Recommendations section.
- A recommendation written after a neighbor Faves the page is also shared in the Nextdoor newsfeed, so the business reply is read by neighbors in the feed, not only by page visitors.
- Nextdoor reviews a reported negative recommendation only against its Community Guidelines, says it cannot judge whether a review is true, and holds the business reply to the same guidelines.
- A Nextdoor neighbor can edit or delete a recommendation, or choose Remove Recommendation to keep the post text without the recommendation features.

reply\_to\_recommendation asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can it get an unfair recommendation removed?

No. Cotlet has no tool for reporting content. Nextdoor asks the business to contact its support about a recommendation that breaks the Community Guidelines and reviews it only against those guidelines. Your agent can flag the recommendation and draft a public reply for you.
