# Request time off in Officient from chat

> Check your Officient calendar budget, see who else is out and send the absence request to your manager from Claude Code, n8n or a script.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/officient-api-mcp-server/request-time-off

You know you want the second week of November off, but booking it means opening the Self Service, checking the budget, scanning colleagues' calendars and sending the request.

Cotlet does it in your own Officient account with get\_calendar\_budget, list\_colleague\_absences, request\_absence and get\_calendar, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Officient do this on its own?

Officient names a calendar:write scope for apps (checked 22 Oct 2026), but the public reference lists no endpoint to request an absence, and an admin has to create the app first. The documented route is the Self Service calendar.

## How you do it in Officient today

1. In the Self Service Calendar, the employee clicks the day or days to book and selects Add 1 day.
2. They choose the type of absence, then a full day, a half day or specific hours.
3. To see what is left, they click My calendar budget at the top of the Calendar.
4. To check for clashes, they open Show colleagues (the gear at the top right on desktop) and read each colleague's calendar.
5. Send request delivers the request to the manager or HR, and the whole routine repeats for every trip.

## How to request time off in Officient from chat

Prompt

```
Book 9 to 13 November as holiday. Check my holiday budget first and tell me who else on my team is out that week.
```

1. 01
### Check the budget first
get\_calendar\_budget returns what is left per absence type, the same figures as My calendar budget. If the dates you gave need more than the type has left, the agent stops and tells you before anything is sent.
2. 02
### Look for clashes
list\_colleague\_absences reads the colleagues' calendars for the same dates. The agent reports who is out and leaves the decision to you, because a clash is not a rule in Officient.
3. 03
### Send the request
request\_absence sends one request with the type, the dates and a full day, half day or hours. It reaches your manager or HR, so it waits for your OK until you switch confirmation off for this tool.
4. 04
### Read the calendar back
get\_calendar reads the same dates again and the agent reports what the calendar now shows, so you see the request landed on the right days.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Holiday budget before: 14.5
Request sent: Holiday, 9 to 13 Nov 2026, full days (5)
Budget after approval: 9.5
Also out that week: Lena Maes (9 to 13 Nov), Tom De Smet (11 Nov, half day)
```

### Other ways to ask

- Book Friday afternoon as a half day of holiday and tell me my budget afterwards.
- Put home office in my calendar every Wednesday of December.
- Check if 23 to 31 December clashes with anyone on my team, but send nothing.

## What Officient allows, and what to know first

- Officient lets an absence cover a full day, a half day or specific hours, so one request can be less than a day.
- Officient sends the request to the manager or to HR, whichever the employee picks with Send request.
- Officient shows the remaining budget under My calendar budget at the top of the Calendar.
- Officient has a home office entry, so colleagues can see who works remotely.

request\_absence asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call request\_absence from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/officient/absence/request \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"type":"Holiday","from_date":"2026-11-09","to_date":"2026-11-13","day_part":"full_day"}'
```

Example response

```
{
"request_id": "req_2210",
"status": "sent",
"type": "Holiday",
"from_date": "2026-11-09",
"to_date": "2026-11-13",
"day_part": "full_day"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is officient\_write → request\_absence. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Officient to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Officient yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Officient once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
