# Cancel an Omio trip and see the refund with AI

A trip is off and the real question is how much money comes back. On Omio the answer depends on whether the fare is refundable, whether Omio Flex was added, and which travel company runs the train or bus.

## Can Omio do this on its own?

Omio has no API for cancelling a booking or reading a refund amount (checked 11 Oct 2026). Omio shows the refund amount, including any cancellation fees, in the Your Bookings cancellation flow before you confirm.

## How you do it in Omio today

1. Open Your Bookings on omio.com or in the Omio app and select the trip you no longer need.
2. Check the fare conditions in the app or in the confirmation email, because Omio allows online cancellation only for a refundable fare or a booking with Omio Flex.
3. Start the cancellation and read the full refund amount with any cancellation fees, which Omio shows before you confirm.
4. Confirm, then watch your bank, card or PayPal account for the refund.
5. What gets missed is timing and form: Omio Flex stops working two hours before departure, and a Flix booking cancelled on Omio comes back as a voucher, not cash.

list\_bookings narrows upcoming trips to the route you named. If the trip relies on Omio Flex and leaves in less than two hours, the agent says at once that Flex no longer applies.

get\_booking shows whether the fare is refundable or protected by Omio Flex. With Flex the expected amount is 80% of the ticket price, and the agent compares that figure with the quote before trusting either.

get\_cancellation\_quote returns what comes back and what stays with Omio. The agent names each lost part, such as the service fee or the Flex fee, and stops if the fare cannot be cancelled online.

Before you automate it

## What Omio allows, and what to know first

- Omio Flex refunds 80% of the ticket price to the original payment method within 14 days, but not when the operator cancels the trip or when you cancel less than two hours before departure.
- A Flix booking cancelled in Your Bookings is refunded as a Flix voucher valid for 12 months, one voucher per later Flix booking on Omio, and not combinable with other discounts.
- Omio issues the refund for a cancelled booking only after the travel company has reimbursed Omio, and a bank dispute opened meanwhile holds the refund until it clears.
- Omio card refunds usually appear in 3 to 5 days, PayPal refunds in 1 to 2 business days, and iDEAL or Sofort refunds can take up to 15 days.

cancel\_booking asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.
