# Change the date of an Omio train ticket with AI

A meeting moves from Wednesday to Friday and the Eurostar booked last week has to move with it. On Omio that means finding the booking, checking whether the fare is exchangeable, and reading the new departures with their fees.

## Can Omio do this on its own?

Omio has no API for changing a ticket on your account (checked 11 Oct 2026). The Omio help center sends exchangeable fares to Your Bookings and everything else to Customer Service, with rules that differ per travel company.

## How you do it in Omio today

1. Sign in on omio.com or in the Omio app, open Your Bookings and select the trip that has to move.
2. Check the fare conditions in the Omio app or in the confirmation email, because Omio offers online changes only for exchangeable fares.
3. Start the change in Your Bookings, choose the new date and compare the travel options Omio lists with the fee for each.
4. Confirm the option you want, or contact Omio Customer Service when the change cannot be finished online.
5. The part that goes wrong is the rules check: every travel company on Omio handles changes differently, and a Deutsche Bahn ticket cannot be changed at all once booked.

### Find the right booking  
The agent pulls upcoming trips with list\_bookings and matches your words to a route and date. When two bookings fit, such as an outbound and a return on the same line, it asks which one before going further.

### Apply the rules of that travel company  
get\_booking says whether the fare is exchangeable. For a Deutsche Bahn ticket the agent does not search for options: it reports that the only route is cancelling a refundable fare and booking again, and stops there.

### Narrow the new departures to your window  
get\_change\_options runs for the new date, and the agent keeps departures inside the time you gave; "Friday afternoon" means after 12:00 unless you say otherwise. Price difference and fee are listed apart, so you see what is fare and what is charge.

### Say when Omio cannot do it online  
Some exchangeable bookings still cannot move in Your Bookings, such as a Renfe return journey or a Flix booking with a paid seat or extra luggage. The agent names the channel that can (Omio Customer Service or the Flix Manage My Booking page) instead of retrying.

### Change after your OK, then re-read  
change\_booking runs only on the departure you approve. Afterwards the agent reads the booking again and reports the new departure as Omio stores it.

## What Omio allows, and what to know first

- Deutsche Bahn tickets bought on Omio cannot be changed after booking; Omio suggests cancelling a refundable fare and making a new booking.
- Renfe changes in Your Bookings work only for one-way journeys and never for Avlo; a Renfe return journey is changed through Omio Customer Service.
- Flix lets you change date, departure time or passenger name depending on the fare, never the itinerary, and Flix bookings with a paid seat reservation or extra luggage cannot be changed in Your Bookings.
- Omio shows the available travel options and any fees before a change is confirmed, and keeps the full fare conditions in the confirmation email and the Omio app.

change\_booking asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

Yes. Flix's Manage My Booking page accepts the booking number with your last name or the email used for the booking, and changes there follow the Flix fare conditions.
