# Mass message Patreon members of a tier

> Send one Patreon direct message to every paid member of a tier, such as a monthly download link, after the agent checks who is on the list.

Once a month a benefit is ready for one tier: a download link, a Discord invite, a print to claim. Patreon lets you send it from the Relationship manager, and every month you rebuild the same filter before clicking Message.

Cotlet does it in your own Patreon account with list\_tiers, list\_members, list\_chats, message\_tier and send\_message, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Patreon do this on its own?

Patreon sends bulk direct messages from the Relationship manager and the Benefit Eligibility Status tool, and Welcome notes per tier greet new members automatically when they join (checked 12 Oct 2026). Patreon's help center describes no scheduled or recurring bulk message, and API v2 has no messaging endpoint, so a monthly tier message is always someone opening the Relationship manager and clicking Send.

By hand

## How you do it in Patreon today

1. In Creator studio, click Audience to open the Relationship manager, the screen where Patreon bulk direct messages start.
2. Leave the Active status selected, click Filters, set Member type to Paid members and tick the Tier or tiers that get the benefit.
3. When the benefit is only for members who paid this month, open the Benefit Eligibility Status tab instead and click View for the current or previous month.
4. Tick the checkbox at the top of the list to select everyone, click Message, write the text and click Send.
5. Save Filters keeps the filter, but the text, the month and the check that nobody is missing are redone every month, and a skipped Active filter sends the link to people who already left.

With an agent

## How to mass message Patreon members of a tier

Prompt

```
Send this month's download link to every active paid Gold and Platinum member. Show me the count before it goes.
```

1. 01
### Resolve the audience
list\_tiers matches the tier names in your request. "Gold and up" becomes every tier priced at or above Gold, and the agent names those tiers back to you before anything else.
2. 02
### Count the real recipients
list\_members with paid and active per tier gives the number that will receive the message. Members who joined in the last day are named, since their Welcome note may already carry the same link.
3. 03
### Check the text, not just the list
The agent looks for an empty link, a leftover placeholder such as \[LINK\] and last month's name. A Patreon message cannot be taken back, so a wrong link would need a second message to everyone.
4. 04
### Avoid a double send
list\_chats shows the last message in each thread. If this month's text already went to these members, the agent stops and tells you instead of sending it again.
5. 05
### Send once, then catch late joiners
message\_tier sends after your OK. On the next run, members who joined since the send date get the same text one by one through send\_message, so nobody in the tier misses the month.

### What you get back

Example data

```
October download link for Gold and Platinum.
Recipients: 214 active paid members (Gold 168, Platinum 46).
Not included: 31 free members, whom Patreon does not let you message.
Sent after your OK at 09:05; each member has a private thread.
Joined since: 3 (Maya Fischer, Tom Ruiz, Ana Lima), sent one by one on 14 Oct.
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every 1st of the month at 10:00, send the Supporter tier the new wallpaper pack link, and send it to anyone who joins later that month.
- Thank everyone who became a paid member this week with a short personal message that uses their first name.
- Tell Gold and Platinum members that the live Q&A moved to Thursday, but skip anyone who joined today.

Before you automate it

## What Patreon allows, and what to know first

- Patreon lets you direct message only current or former paid members, including members whose payment was declined; people who were only ever free members cannot receive a direct message.
- A Patreon bulk message opens a separate private thread with each recipient, so replies arrive one by one in your inbox instead of one shared thread.
- Patreon direct messages cannot be deleted after sending, and they cannot carry pictures; Patreon suggests sharing image sets as links.
- Patreon recommends filtering by Member type Paid members and Status Active payment before a bulk message, so the text skips people who no longer want your updates.
- A promo code added as a benefit in the Patreon tier editor is emailed by Patreon to new members, and to existing ones if you choose, so a code alone needs no direct message.

message\_tier and send\_message ask for your OK by default. To run it monthly without you, switch confirmation off for those tools in your dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do Patreon Welcome notes already cover new members?

Partly. Patreon shows a Welcome note right after a member joins and sends a confirmation email with the same text, set under Welcome notes as one note for all tiers or one per tier. It is the same text for everyone in a tier and goes out only at the moment of joining, so a monthly benefit still needs a separate message.
