# Answer Postscript subscriber replies with AI

> Triage unresolved Postscript conversations by topic and sentiment, answer the simple ones and leave refunds and complaints for you.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/postscript-api-mcp-server/answer-subscriber-replies

Subscribers answer your campaigns with questions about tracking, refunds and discounts, and each reply waits in Conversations until someone opens the thread.

Cotlet does it in your own Postscript account with list\_conversations, find\_subscriber and reply\_to\_conversation, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Postscript do this on its own?

Postscript has no documented API endpoint for conversations (checked 23 Oct 2026). Its Zapier app has a New Message trigger and a Send Message action, and the official MCP server is read-only analytics.

## How you do it in Postscript today

1. Open Messaging > Conversations. Every thread offers Resolve, Reply or Opt Out.
2. Click Filter and combine Thread State, Last Response Topic and Last Response Sentiment to narrow the list.
3. Click the subscriber's name to open the profile with details and Shopify customer history, when available.
4. Under the thread click Send Reply, type the text and click Send. The More drop-down adds links, tags or coupons.
5. Some teams forward responses to email under Shop Settings > Response Forwarding, or to a helpdesk, and handle them there.

## How to answer Postscript subscriber replies with AI

Prompt

```
List unresolved Postscript conversations from the last day, check each subscriber, and reply to shipping questions with a short answer. Leave refunds and angry messages for me.
```

1. 01
### Pull the unresolved threads
list\_conversations runs with thread\_state set to unresolved, and with the topic or sentiment you named. Each thread comes with the last message, the topic Postscript assigned and the sentiment.
2. 02
### Look up who is asking
find\_subscriber reads the profile by name, phone number or email, so the agent sees status, tags and message history before it answers.
3. 03
### Sort what needs you
Refunds, payment disputes and negative sentiment stay on your list. The agent answers only what your prompt allows, for example order tracking.
4. 04
### Reply and report
reply\_to\_conversation sends one message per thread. Each call waits for your OK, since the subscriber reads it and Postscript counts it as usage. Resolve and Opt Out stay in the dashboard, so the agent lists those threads for you.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Unresolved threads: 9
Replied 5 (shipping): "Where is my order?" (Dana R.) sent tracking steps
Left for you 4:
- "I want a refund" (payment, negative)
- "Stop texting me" (needs Opt Out in the app)
```

### Other ways to ask

- Only reply to positive-sentiment threads that ask about a discount code.
- Every evening, list unresolved threads with negative sentiment and draft replies, but send none.
- Show me the five threads waiting longest with the subscriber's tags.

## What Postscript allows, and what to know first

- Postscript two-way messaging works for US and Canadian subscribers; the UK and Australia need a dedicated regional number.
- Sending a response counts as usage, like sending a campaign or an automation.
- The Conversations filters are Thread State, Last Response Topic and Last Response Sentiment, and they can be combined.
- An auto-reply for non-keyword responses interferes with forwarding responses to email, so Postscript says to turn it off.

reply\_to\_conversation asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call reply\_to\_conversation from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/postscript/conversations/c_90412/replies \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"body":"Hi Dana, your order shipped on Monday. The tracking link is in your confirmation email. Reply here if it has not arrived by Friday."}'
```

Example response

```
{
"conversation_id": "c_90412",
"status": "sent",
"body": "Hi Dana, your order shipped on Monday. The tracking link is in your confirmation email. Reply here if it has not arrived by Friday."
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is postscript\_write → reply\_to\_conversation. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Postscript to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Postscript yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Postscript once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
