# Find failed and stuck Printful orders

> List Printful orders that failed or sit in draft, see the reason for each, and decide which to confirm. Runs daily from Claude Code, n8n or a script.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/printful-api-mcp-server/find-failed-and-stuck-orders

A card payment fails at 2 a.m. and Printful saves the order as a draft. Nobody notices until the customer asks where the package is.

Cotlet does it in your own Printful account with list\_orders and get\_order, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Printful do this on its own?

Printful saves an order whose payment fails as a draft with the status Failed, and you can confirm it manually after fixing the issue (Printful Help, checked 17 Oct 2026). The API lists orders by status and has an order\_failed webhook, but it needs a token and a server of your own to receive it. Nothing tells you in the dashboard that a failed order is waiting.

## How you do it in Printful today

1. You open the Printful Dashboard and go to Orders.
2. You filter by status and open each order marked Failed or Draft.
3. On a Failed order you read the reason, then fix it, for example the payment method or the address.
4. You confirm the order by hand once the problem is fixed.
5. The check repeats every day, and a failed order that nobody opens stays unfulfilled.

## How to find failed and stuck Printful orders

Prompt

```
List my Printful orders that failed or are still drafts. For each, tell me why it did not go through and whether I can confirm it now. Do not confirm anything.
```

1. 01
### Collect the problem orders
list\_orders runs once with status failed and once with status draft, and pages until each list ends, so an old draft from last month shows up too.
2. 02
### Read each order
get\_order returns the recipient, the items and the status for each one, so the report says what the order is and who it is for, not only an ID.
3. 03
### Classify
A failed order is reported with the reason Printful shows. A draft is reported with its age. The agent does not guess a cause that the order does not show.
4. 04
### Report, do not fix
The agent lists what you can confirm and stops. confirm\_order charges your card, so it runs only if you ask for it in a second prompt and approve the call.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Failed orders: 2
- #31877, Mia Alvarez, 2 items, saved as draft after the payment failed
- #31902, Tom Reed, 1 item, saved as draft after the payment failed
Drafts: 3
- #31840, 6 days old, never confirmed
- #31911, #31915, created today
Nothing was confirmed.
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, list drafts older than 3 days and ask me which to delete.
- Only check orders for my Etsy store and ignore the rest.
- Show me the failed orders as a table and write nothing to Printful.

## What Printful allows, and what to know first

- A Failed order is saved as a draft, and you can confirm it manually after fixing the issue.
- A Draft is not confirmed or paid for yet, and you can still edit or delete it from the Dashboard.
- Printful charges your card when an order is submitted for fulfillment, not when the draft is created.
- Canceling an order in your sales channel does not cancel the Printful order, and the reverse holds too.

Every tool here only reads, so it can run daily from n8n, Make, Zapier or cron without waiting for your OK.

## Call list\_orders from a script

curl

```
curl "https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/printful/orders?status=failed&limit=20" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY"
```

Example response

```
{
"orders": [
{
"order_id": 31911,
"status": "draft",
"recipient": "Anna Berg",
"items": 2,
"created_at": "2026-10-17T07:12:00Z"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is printful\_read → list\_orders. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Printful to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Printful yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Printful once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
