# Generate Printful mockups for new designs

> Generate Printful mockups for a product template in every style and get the download links, without clicking through each product.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/printful-api-mcp-server/generate-mockups-for-new-designs

You finished a design and need product photos for the listing. Each template means a trip through the mockup download page, and a new collection can have a dozen templates. The styles you pick for one product are easy to forget on the next.

Cotlet does it in your own Printful account with list\_product\_templates and generate\_mockups, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Printful do this on its own?

Printful has a Mockup Generator in the Dashboard and in the API, with a limit of 10 requests per 60 seconds for established stores and 2 for new ones (checked 17 Oct 2026). The API needs a task, then polling for the result. Neither the Dashboard nor the API runs a batch of templates from one instruction.

## How you do it in Printful today

1. You open Product templates in the Dashboard, or My products and then Product templates.
2. You hover over the template and choose Download mockups from the menu.
3. On the mockup page you select the mockup styles.
4. You click Generate files, then Download mockups.
5. You repeat the steps for every template and every product, and pick the same styles again each time.

## How to generate Printful mockups for new designs

Prompt

```
Take my product template "Autumn tote" and generate mockups in all available styles. Give me the download links.
```

1. 01
### Find the template
list\_product\_templates returns your templates with ID and name. The agent matches the name you gave to one template and asks if two names are close.
2. 02
### Generate
generate\_mockups starts generation for the template and the styles you asked for, then waits for Printful to finish the files before it answers.
3. 03
### Return the links
The agent lists each mockup with its style and its download link, and flags a style that Printful did not produce. It reports a template that has no design on it instead of returning an empty set. You download the files from the links, since mockup URLs do not last.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Template: Autumn tote (ID 7723)
Mockups generated: 4
- Front, flat
- Front, on model
- Back, flat
- Lifestyle
Download links attached, one per image.
```

### Other ways to ask

- Generate only the flat mockups for every template that has "tote" in its name.
- Generate mockups for my 5 newest templates and report which ones failed.

## What Printful allows, and what to know first

- In the Dashboard you reach mockups through Product templates or through a published product.
- Printful has a Mockup Library on each product page under View all mockups.
- The API caps the Mockup Generator at 10 requests per 60 seconds for established stores and 2 for new stores.
- Generated mockup URLs are temporary, so download them when the agent returns them.

generate\_mockups changes only your own Printful data and reach no one else, so it runs without asking first.

## Call generate\_mockups from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/printful/templates/7723/mockups/generate \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"styles":["front_flat","lifestyle"]}'
```

Example response

```
{
"template_id": 7723,
"mockups": [
{
"style": "front_flat",
"url": "https://files.example.com/mockups/7723-front-flat.png"
},
{
"style": "lifestyle",
"url": "https://files.example.com/mockups/7723-lifestyle.png"
}
]
}
```

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Printful to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Printful yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Printful once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
