# Quora API and MCP server

> Quora has no public API and no developer docs (checked 11 Oct 2026). Its help center describes only the web and mobile apps, and its robots.txt closes most pages to bots.

Question-and-answer site where people ask questions, write answers and run topic communities called Spaces.

## What is the Quora API?

Cotlet's Quora API exposes 11 endpoints for your own Quora account: search questions, get question, list my answers, list answer requests, list my Spaces, get Space stats, list Space submissions, post answer, ask question, post to Space and review Space submission. The search_questions endpoint returns questions matching a keyword, with answer counts. Each endpoint takes simple JSON inputs like space_id, limit or question_url and works both as an MCP tool for agents and as a REST call for scripts.

## For AI agents

```text
Quora has no public API and no developer docs (checked 11 Oct 2026). Its help center describes only the web and mobile apps, and its robots.txt closes most pages to bots.
Cotlet provides a hosted MCP server and REST API for Quora: 11 tools (7 read, 4 write).
Access       Request access at https://cotlet.dev/app/signup?app=quora; we email the API key.
MCP server   https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1
REST base    https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/quora
Auth         Authorization: Bearer <COTLET_API_KEY>. Listing endpoints and schemas needs no key; calling an endpoint needs one.
Tools        search_questions, get_question, list_my_answers, list_answer_requests, list_my_spaces, get_space_stats, list_space_submissions, post_answer, ask_question, post_to_space, review_space_submission
Confirm      post_answer, ask_question, post_to_space, review_space_submission (by default the user approves each call; the user can switch this off per tool, e.g. for scheduled automations)
Markdown     https://cotlet.dev/integrations/quora-api-mcp-server.md
How access works:
1. The user requests access at https://cotlet.dev/app/signup?app=quora (Quora is pre-selected). Each request is reviewed and the API key is sent by email.
2. The user signs in to Quora once in a browser. An agent cannot do this step.
3. The API key goes into the MCP client or the REST call as a bearer token.
Fits: people who want a hosted Quora server that someone else maintains, including non-developers.
Policy: Cotlet never stores passwords, never solves CAPTCHAs, never bypasses MFA.
Company: legal details in the Terms of service at https://cotlet.dev/terms. Contact contact@cotlet.dev.
Session: the user signs in to Quora in a browser; Cotlet keeps only the session, AES-256 encrypted, revocable in the dashboard at any time.
Terms: the user stays responsible for following Quora's terms; Cotlet is not affiliated with Quora.
```

## What can an AI agent do in Quora?

Cotlet is best for marketers, creators and Space owners who want their AI agent to find questions, post answers, run a Space and report its stats without running or fixing a server.

- **[Find questions worth answering in your niche](https://cotlet.dev/integrations/quora-api-mcp-server/find-questions-to-answer)** (runs: weekly): "Every Monday, go through my Quora answer requests and search "bookkeeping for freelancers", drop what I already answered, and give me the 10 questions where my answer would add the most." → `list_answer_requests`, `search_questions`, `list_my_answers`, `get_question`
- **[Answer questions from your own blog posts](https://cotlet.dev/integrations/quora-api-mcp-server/post-answers-from-your-content)**: "Turn my post "How I track freelance expenses" into an answer for this Quora question, cite the original at the end, show me the draft, then post it." → `get_question`, `list_my_answers`, `post_answer`
- **Triage answer requests** (runs: daily): "Go through my answer requests and tell me which ones fit my expertise." → `list_answer_requests`, `get_question`
- **[Queue posts in a Space](https://cotlet.dev/integrations/quora-api-mcp-server/queue-space-posts)** (runs: weekly): "Take my three newest blog posts, write a Quora version of each for my Freelance Finance Space and add them to its queue." → `list_my_spaces`, `post_to_space`
- **[Review Space submissions against your rules](https://cotlet.dev/integrations/quora-api-mcp-server/review-space-submissions)** (runs: daily): "Every morning, read the submissions waiting in Freelance Finance, approve or queue the ones that fit the Space rules, and list the rest for me with a reason." → `list_my_spaces`, `list_space_submissions`, `review_space_submission`
- **Weekly Space stats report** (runs: weekly): "Every Monday, send me views, followers and upvotes of my Space for the last 7 days." → `get_space_stats`

## Can Quora automations run on a schedule in n8n, Make or Zapier?

Yes. Cotlet does not replace your automation platform: it gives it a Quora connection it does not have, with the same API key as your agent. Write actions ask for your OK by default; switch that off in your dashboard for the tools you choose, for example to find questions worth answering in your niche, and the schedule runs on its own. Cotlet runs in the cloud, so it keeps going while your computer is off.

| Where | How to connect | How to schedule |
|---|---|---|
| Your AI agent | Add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with your API key. | A scheduled agent run, for example a Claude Code routine. |
| n8n | MCP Client node with https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1, or an HTTP Request node to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/quora/{tool}. | Schedule Trigger node. |
| Make | HTTP module: POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/quora/{tool} with an Authorization: Bearer header and a JSON body. | Scenario schedule. |
| Zapier | Webhooks by Zapier: POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/quora/{tool} with the same header and body. | Schedule by Zapier trigger. |
| Your own script | POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/quora/{tool} with your API key. | cron or GitHub Actions. |

## Tools

**For AI agents:** Every endpoint and its schema is public. The 11 endpoints on this page, with parameters and example responses, can be listed without an account. Calling one returns 403 until the account has an API key with access to Quora.

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `query` | string | yes | Search words. |
| `limit` | integer | no | 1 to 50. Default: 20. |

Searches Quora for questions matching your words and returns them in the order Quora shows them, with the number of answers each has. Use question_url from an item with get_question. Pages hold up to 50 questions.

Example response:

```json
{
  "questions": [
    {
      "answers": 1
    }
  ]
}
| `answers_limit` | integer | no | 0 to 20. Default: 5. |
Returns one question with its text, answer count and the top answers in the order Quora shows them. Use it before answering, so your agent sees what is already said. answers_limit set to 0 returns the question only.
Example response:
```json
{
  "question": "How do freelancers track expenses for taxes?",
  "question_url": "https://www.quora.com/How-do-freelancers-track-expenses-for-taxes",
  "answers": 3,

Example response:

```json
{
  "spaces": [
    {
      "space_id": "sp_5521",
      "name": "Freelance Finance",
      "upvotes": 210
    }
  ]
}
```

### list_space_submissions

Answers, posts and questions followers submitted to your Space, waiting for review. Access: read. REST: `POST /api/v1/quora/list_space_submissions`.

| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `space_id` | string | yes | Space ID from list_my_spaces. |

      "submission_id": "sub_8841",
      "type": "post",

    }
  ]
}
```
### post_answer
Publish an answer as you under a question. Access: write, asks the user first. REST: `POST /api/v1/quora/post_answer`.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `question_url` | string | yes | Question URL on quora.com. |
| `body_markdown` | string | yes | Answer text. Images by URL. |
Publishes an answer under your name below the question you name. Images go in the body as URLs. The answer is public at once and follows Quora's answer rules. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool.
Example response:
```json
{
  "answer_id": "391847562",
  "status": "published",
  "url": "https://www.quora.com/How-do-freelancers-track-expenses-for-taxes/answer/Your-Name",
  "created_at": "2026-10-11T14:20:00Z"
}
```
### ask_question
Add a new public question to Quora. Access: write, asks the user first. REST: `POST /api/v1/quora/ask_question`.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `question` | string | yes | Question text, ending with a question mark. |
| `space_id` | string | no | Post it in this Space instead of Quora at large. |
Adds a new question under your name. In a Space where you are not a contributor, a question needs approval from an admin or moderator before it appears. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool.
Example response:
```json
{
  "question": "How do I split a client invoice across two currencies?",
  "question_url": "https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-split-a-client-invoice-across-two-currencies",
  "status": "published"
}
```
### post_to_space
New post in a Space you contribute to, posted now or added to its queue. Access: write, asks the user first. REST: `POST /api/v1/quora/post_to_space`.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `space_id` | string | yes | Space ID from list_my_spaces. |
| `body_markdown` | string | yes | Post text. Images by URL. |
| `title` | string | no | Optional post title. |
| `mode` | enum | no | post or queue. Default: post. |
Creates a post in a Space where you are an owner, admin, moderator or contributor. Mode post publishes it at once. Mode queue adds it to the Space queue, which posts it over a staggered period; queue needs an admin or moderator role. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool.
Example response:
```json
{
  "post_id": "sp_post_2207",
  "space_id": "sp_5521",
  "status": "queued"
}
```
### review_space_submission
Approve, queue or pass on a follower submission. Space admins and moderators only. Access: write, asks the user first. REST: `POST /api/v1/quora/review_space_submission`.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `space_id` | string | yes | Space ID from list_my_spaces. |
| `submission_id` | string | yes | Submission ID from list_space_submissions. |
| `action` | enum | yes | approve, queue or pass. |
Approve publishes the submission at once. Queue adds it to the Space queue. Pass removes it from the pending list, and Quora does not notify the submitter. By default you confirm each call; you can switch that off for this tool.
Example response:
```json
{
  "submission_id": "sub_8841",
  "space_id": "sp_5521",
  "status": "queued"
}
```
## How do I connect Quora to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor?
Connecting Quora takes three steps: request access, sign in to Quora once, then add one MCP server or call the REST API with the same key.
### Connect Quora to your agent.
1. **Create an account** Sign up and add Quora in the console. Your API key is there too.
2. **Sign in to Quora once** Open the connect page from the console and sign in to Quora the way you always do. We keep the session, never your password, and you can revoke it anytime.
3. **Add Cotlet to your agent** Paste the snippet for your client. The same server and key serve every app you connect, so you do this once.
   Claude Code:
```
claude mcp add --transport http cotlet \
  https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY"
```
   Cursor:
```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "cotlet": {
      "url": "https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer ${COTLET_API_KEY}"
      }
    }
  }
}
```
   Codex:
```
# ~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.cotlet]
url = "https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1"
bearer_token_env_var = "COTLET_API_KEY"
```
4. **Ask your agent** Ask in plain words. Your agent finds the Quora tools on the server and calls them for you; anything that reaches other people waits for your OK unless you switch that off for a tool.
```
Every Monday, go through my Quora answer requests and search "bookkeeping for freelancers", drop what I already answered, and give me the 10 questions where my answer would add the most.
```
### Call Quora from your scripts.
1. **Export your API key** Your scripts use the same API key as your agent. Keep it in an environment variable, never in your code.
```
export COTLET_API_KEY="cotlet_..."
```
2. **Call a tool** Every tool is a POST endpoint at /api/v1/quora/{tool}. Send its parameters as JSON, exactly as listed in the endpoints above.
```
curl https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/quora/post_answer \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"question_url":"https://www.quora.com/How-do-freelancers-track-expenses-for-taxes","body_markdown":"I keep one card for business costs only and export it to a spreadsheet every month."}'
```
3. **Read the result** You get plain JSON back, ready for your script. A failed call costs nothing.
```
{
  "answer_id": "391847562",
  "status": "published",
  "url": "https://www.quora.com/How-do-freelancers-track-expenses-for-taxes/answer/Your-Name",
  "created_at": "2026-10-11T14:20:00Z"
}
```
## Why use Cotlet for Quora?
**Built for agents**
- One MCP server for every app you connect.
- The same tools as a REST API for scripts and cron jobs.
- Works with Claude Code, Codex and Cursor.
**Your login stays yours**
- You sign in to Quora yourself. We keep only the session, encrypted with AES-256.
- The model never sees a login.
- No stored passwords, no CAPTCHA solving, no MFA bypass.
**You stay in control**
- Pick read only, or read and write.
- Anything that reaches other people waits for your OK, unless you switch it off per tool.
- Revoke access in one click.
**Kept working for you**
- We test every integration daily.
- When Quora changes, the tool pauses until we fix it.
- Failed calls cost nothing.
## Is there a Quora MCP server on GitHub?
Hosted scrapers read public questions, answers, profiles and Spaces. They are read-only, and you pay per result. No maintained open-source Quora MCP server turned up in our check.
|  | Hosted scraper | Cotlet |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Create an account with the scraper host; some need cookies copied from your browser | Request access, sign in to Quora once, add one MCP server or API key |
| Writing | Read-only: no answers, questions or Space posts | Answers, questions, Space posts and submission reviews, each confirmed by you |
| Your account data | Public pages only, so no answer requests, Space stats or submissions | Answer requests, Space stats and submissions, read as you |
| Your Quora session | Cookies you paste in, stored by the scraper host | Encrypted in an EU vault, limited to the actions you allow, revoked in one click |
| When the session expires | Calls return nothing until you paste new cookies | Your agent gets a link to sign in again |
| When Quora changes | Wait for the scraper's author | Our team tests it daily and fixes it for you; failed calls are free |
| Price | Per result or platform usage | Free 7-day trial with 5,000 credits, then credits per call |
### Which one fits you
**Pick Cotlet if**
- you are not a developer, or you do not want to maintain a server
- you need it to keep working when Quora changes, without checking it yourself
- your agent or a script should run it on a schedule, also while your computer is off
**Pick an open-source server if**
- you are comfortable installing, updating and fixing it yourself
- you want the session to stay on your own computer
- you only need it now and then, from one MCP client
## How much does the Quora API cost?
Free 7-day trial with 5,000 credits, no card needed. After that, the Quora API comes with the Cotlet plan, from $29 a month for 3,000 credits, with no limit on apps. Each month's credits stay valid for 3 months, so unused credits add up.
| Size | Price | Credits / month | Per credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $29/mo | 3,000 | about $0.0097 |
| Pro | $99/mo | 12,000 | about $0.0083 |
| Agency | $299/mo | 40,000 | $0.0075 |
Each successful call uses credits for the work it takes; failed calls and timeouts cost nothing. A hard spend cap is on by default. Authenticate with the `Authorization: Bearer` header. [See full pricing](https://cotlet.dev/pricing)
## How Cotlet holds your access
Cotlet hosts MCP servers and REST APIs for apps with no usable API. Your agent works in your own Quora account.
- **Company details:** The legal name, address and registration numbers of the company behind Cotlet are in the Terms of service. [Terms](https://cotlet.dev/terms)
- **Your session:** You sign in to Quora yourself, in your browser. We keep only the session, never your password: encrypted with AES-256 in an EU vault, isolated to your account and used only when your agent calls a Quora tool you allowed. When it expires, your agent gives you a link to sign in again. [Security](https://cotlet.dev/security)
- **Revoking access:** Disconnect Quora in your dashboard: the session is deleted and access ends at once. Actions that reach other people wait for your OK unless you switch that off per tool.
- **What we never do:** Store passwords, solve CAPTCHAs or bypass MFA.
- **Quora's terms:** You use your own Quora account and stay responsible for following Quora's terms. Cotlet is independent and not affiliated with Quora. [Terms](https://cotlet.dev/terms)
- **Contact:** Questions about the company, security or an app: [contact@cotlet.dev](mailto:contact@cotlet.dev)
## Frequently asked questions
**How do I get access?**
Request access and pick Quora. Cotlet reviews each request and emails you your API key.
**Do I need to be technical?**
No. You sign in to Quora once in your browser and paste one command into your agent, or one URL into n8n. Your agent can walk you through it. There is no server to install, update or fix.
**Is a hosted server safe? My Quora session would leave my computer.**
Cotlet keeps your Quora session encrypted with AES-256 in an EU vault, isolated to your account and used only for the tools you allow: read only, or read and write. The AI model never sees it, and you revoke it in one click. A local server keeps the same session in a file on your computer, readable by any program you run, and needs a fresh sign-in whenever it expires.
**Which Space role do I need?**
Posting needs the owner, admin, moderator or contributor role. Stats and submissions are for owners, admins and moderators; queue mode needs an admin or moderator. Followers can read only.
**Can my agent post or send messages in Quora without asking me?**
No. Every call to post_answer, ask_question, post_to_space or review_space_submission waits for your OK by default. For scheduled automations you can switch confirmation off per tool in your dashboard, for example only for approvals.
**Can I use the Quora API in n8n?**
Yes. Add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with your API key in n8n's MCP Client node, or call https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/quora/{tool} from the HTTP Request node.
