# Add notes to your RemNote daily document with AI

> Send call notes and quick captures to today's RemNote daily document as tagged bullets, from Claude Code, n8n or a script, without opening the app.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/remnote-api-mcp-server/add-notes-to-daily-document

A call ends, the notes sit in a chat window or a transcript, and someone has to open RemNote, find today's daily document, paste and tag everything by hand.

Cotlet does it in your own RemNote account with get\_daily\_document, add\_to\_daily\_document and tag\_note, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can RemNote do this on its own?

RemNote creates today's daily document on demand but has no way to fill it from outside the app (checked 17 Oct 2026). Its official MCP can add to the daily document in Read and write mode, but only from an MCP client on your own computer while the desktop app is open, so n8n, scripts and web AI apps cannot use it.

## How you do it in RemNote today

1. Open the sidebar and click "Today's Note", or press Alt+D (Opt+D on a Mac). RemNote opens the daily document for today and creates it if it does not exist yet.
2. Type or paste the notes as bullets. Pasted lines with leading dashes become bullets, and consistent indentation becomes nesting.
3. Type ## on a bullet, then the tag name, to tag it; the ## search shows bullets that were used as a tag before unless you choose Show Non-Tags.
4. Type !! and a date, such as "next Tuesday", to add a Reference to another daily document for follow-ups.
5. Repeat after every call. Notes that never reach the daily document stay in the chat or transcript where nobody searches for them.

## How to add notes to your RemNote daily document with AI

Prompt

```
Take the notes I pasted from today's call and add them to today's RemNote daily document under a bullet "Call with Acme". Tag the bullet #Meeting and put each action item on its own sub-bullet.
```

1. 01
### Open today's document first
Your agent calls get\_daily\_document for today's date, so the notes land in the right day and an existing "Call with Acme" bullet is extended instead of duplicated.
2. 02
### Shape the notes into bullets
The agent turns the raw text into a short summary bullet with action items as sub-bullets. RemNote reads leading dashes as bullets and equal indentation as nesting, so the structure survives the paste.
3. 03
### Add them to the document
add\_to\_daily\_document appends the bullets to the end of the day. It writes only into your own knowledge base, so it does not wait for your OK.
4. 04
### Tag the parent bullet
tag\_note applies #Meeting to the summary bullet, using a tag that already exists in your knowledge base. If the tag is missing, the agent says so instead of creating a new one.
5. 05
### Report where it went
The agent returns the daily document date and the bullets added, so you can check them in RemNote from your phone.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Added to Daily Document 2026-10-17:
- Call with Acme #Meeting
  - Agreed to pilot in November
  - Action: send pricing sheet by Friday
  - Action: book follow-up for 24 Oct
Bullets added: 4
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every evening at 18:00, add a "Done today" bullet to the daily document from my task list.
- Add this link and a two-line summary to today's daily document under "Reading".
- Append the action items from my last three call transcripts to their daily documents, one per day.

## What RemNote allows, and what to know first

- RemNote links each daily document to a calendar date, and a Reference typed with !! shows up as a backlink on that date's page.
- RemNote's Alt+D shortcut (Opt+D on a Mac) opens or creates today's daily document, so the document always exists when the agent writes to it.
- Pasted text with leading dashes becomes bullets, and RemNote reads nesting from the number of leading spaces as long as each level uses the same number.
- The ## tag search lists only bullets that were used as a tag before, unless you choose Show Non-Tags to use another bullet as a tag.

add\_to\_daily\_document and tag\_note change only your own RemNote data and reach no one else, so they run without asking first.

## Call add\_to\_daily\_document from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/remnote/daily-documents \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"date":"2026-10-17","markdown":"- Call with Acme\n - Agreed to pilot in November\n - Action: send pricing sheet by Friday\n - Action: book follow-up for 24 Oct"}'
```

Example response

```
{
"document_id": "rem_d20261017",
"date": "2026-10-17",
"bullets_added": 4
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is remnote\_write → add\_to\_daily\_document. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect RemNote to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to RemNote yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get RemNote once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
