# Moderate fake and spam REVIEWS.io reviews

> Send fake, offensive or wrong-company REVIEWS.io reviews to moderation with a reason each week, and keep the doubtful ones for your own call.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/reviews-io-api-mcp-server/moderate-fake-reviews

A competitor, a bot or a customer of another company leaves a one-star review, and it stays on your widgets until someone finds it and files a moderation request.

Cotlet does it in your own REVIEWS.io account with list\_reviews, get\_review, list\_invitations and moderate\_review, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can REVIEWS.io do this on its own?

REVIEWS.io's API index lists no moderation endpoint (checked 23 Oct 2026). Moderation is a button in the Timeline, and bulk removals go through the dashboard live chat.

## How you do it in REVIEWS.io today

1. Open Timeline in the dashboard and search for the reviewer by name or email address.
2. Click the review, click Moderate, enter a reason such as "not a real customer", "offensive content" or "incorrect company", and submit.
3. A review can also be reported with the report option on the company profile page.
4. A decision usually takes about an hour, and the change shows within an hour after that.
5. Reviews that came from Google have no Moderate button: they are reported on Google, and support can sync one that was removed there.
6. To stop spam at the source, Publishing Options has a switch for the public "Write a review" form; with it off, only customers you invite can leave a review.

## How to moderate fake and spam REVIEWS.io reviews

Prompt

```
Look at 1 and 2 star reviews from the last week. Check whether the reviewer was ever invited. Send obvious spam to moderation with a reason and list the doubtful ones for me.
```

1. 01
### Collect the suspects
list\_reviews runs with rating\_max set to 2 and date\_from set to the start of the week. The agent follows next\_cursor until the window ends.
2. 02
### Read the whole review
get\_review returns the full text and the reviewer email. Reviews that came from Google are left out, since they have no Moderate button.
3. 03
### Look for an invitation
list\_invitations with the reviewer email shows whether you ever invited that person. No invitation is only a signal, not proof, because customers can also use the public form.
4. 04
### Sort into two piles
Spam links, abuse and reviews about another company go to moderation. Anything that might be a real unhappy customer stays on your list with the reason it was doubtful.
5. 05
### File the request
moderate\_review sends one request per review with a reason in your words. It waits for your OK by default, because Cotlet has no tool to undo a moderation.
6. 06
### Check back
On the next run, list\_reviews shows whether the earlier requests went through, since decisions usually take about an hour.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Reviews with 1 or 2 stars this week: 9
Sent to moderation 3:
- "Visit my-shop-deals.example for coupons": spam link
- Review about a different brand: incorrect company
- "You are all thieves": offensive content
Left for you 5:
- Omar Rahim: no invitation found, but he mentions order 77412
Skipped 1: Google review, no Moderate button
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, report reviews with an external link in the text and send them to moderation.
- Find 1-star reviews whose reviewer was never invited and list them without moderating anything.
- Moderate reviews that name another company and give "incorrect company" as the reason.

## What REVIEWS.io allows, and what to know first

- REVIEWS.io gives example reasons for a moderation request: "not a real customer", "offensive content" and "incorrect company".
- Moderation decisions usually take about an hour, and visibility changes appear within an hour after the decision.
- Google-sourced reviews have no Moderate button; they are reported on Google.
- A review flagged several times goes to an escalated queue automatically.
- Bulk removals and disputes about a moderation decision go to REVIEWS.io support through the dashboard live chat.

moderate\_review asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call moderate\_review from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/reviews-io/reviews/4829417/moderate \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"reason":"not a real customer"}'
```

Example response

```
{
"review_id": "4829417",
"status": "submitted",
"reason": "not a real customer"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is reviews\_io\_write → moderate\_review. Example data.
