# Text back missed Ringover callers with AI

> Send a short SMS to everyone who missed your Ringover line, skip people you already texted and keep the replies for you. Runs from your agent.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/ringover-api-mcp-server/text-back-missed-callers

A caller reaches your Ringover line while the team is on other calls and hangs up. Whoever checks the missed calls first decides if that person hears back today.

Cotlet does it in your own Ringover account with list\_todo\_conversations, list\_sms\_conversations, search\_contacts and send\_sms, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Ringover do this on its own?

Ringover sends SMS through its API, the Make app and the Zapier app, and has a webhook for missed calls (checked 23 Oct 2026). Those routes need a server or a scenario you build for each rule. The official MCP server has 36 read-only tools, so an AI agent can see the missed call but cannot send the text.

## How you do it in Ringover today

1. A teammate opens the Conversations tab and the To Do view, which highlights contacts with pending tasks, missed calls and voicemails.
2. For each missed caller, the teammate checks the contact and whether someone already answered.
3. To text, the teammate clicks Message in the left menu, the SMS button at the top right, then + New.
4. The teammate picks the mobile number to send from, enters or selects the recipient, types the message and clicks Send. A failed message gets a Retry link next to the bubble.
5. The teammate can also open the dropdown next to Send and schedule the text for later.

## How to text back missed Ringover callers with AI

Prompt

```
Check Ringover for calls missed during the last 2 hours. For each new caller, send one SMS from our sales mobile number: sorry we missed you, we will call back today. Skip anyone I already texted this week.
```

1. 01
### Find the missed calls
list\_todo\_conversations returns the contacts the To Do view shows, with the last missed call or voicemail and its time. The agent keeps those from the window in your prompt and drops internal calls.
2. 02
### Skip people you already texted
list\_sms\_conversations shows the SMS threads for your sender number. A caller with a message from you inside the period is skipped, so nobody gets two texts for one missed call.
3. 03
### Check the contact
search\_contacts looks the caller up by number. A name found there goes into the message, for example "Hi Dana", and a caller with no contact gets the neutral wording.
4. 04
### Send one SMS each
send\_sms goes out from the mobile number you named, with the wording from your prompt. Each text reaches a real person, so it waits for your OK until you switch confirmation off for send\_sms.
5. 05
### Report who got a text
The agent returns the callers texted, the callers skipped and the reason. Numbers that cannot receive SMS are listed for you to call.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Missed calls in the last 2 hours: 7
Texted 4:
- Dana Whitfield: "Hi Dana, sorry we missed you. We will call back today."
- +1 555 010 0142 (no contact): neutral wording
Skipped 3:
- 2 already texted this week
- 1 internal call
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every morning at 8, text everyone who left a voicemail after closing time.
- Draft the texts for today's missed calls in this chat and send nothing.
- Text missed callers back, but only when the contact is a customer, and list unknown numbers for me.
- Schedule the texts for 9:00 tomorrow for calls missed after 18:00.

## What Ringover allows, and what to know first

- Ringover SMS needs an active Business plan, and each sender needs a mobile number assigned to their user profile.
- Ringover splits an SMS into 160-character fragments and bills each fragment by location, with a maximum of 8 segments; special characters and emojis add fragments.
- Ringover says operators generally reject SMS above about 1,500 to 1,600 characters, so the agent keeps a callback text short.
- Ringover One-Way Texts go out under an approved brand name and take no replies, so the agent uses a mobile number to keep replies possible.
- Ringover SMS is not available for temporary test accounts.

send\_sms asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call send\_sms from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/ringover/froms/%2B15550100100/sms \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"to_number":"+15550100142","body":"Hi Dana, sorry we missed your call. We will call you back today."}'
```

Example response

```
{
"message_id": "msg_7710",
"conversation_id": "sms_3301",
"from_number": "+15550100100",
"to_number": "+15550100142",
"body": "Hi Dana, sorry we missed your call. We will call you back today.",
"state": "sent",
"sent_at": "2026-10-22T09:40:00Z"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is ringover\_write → send\_sms. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Ringover to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Ringover yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Ringover once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
