# Add customers to a SimpleTexting list from a sheet or CRM

> Add people who agreed to texts to the right SimpleTexting list, skip the ones already on it and see which autoresponder will fire for them.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/simpletexting-api-mcp-server/add-customers-to-a-text-list

A sign-up sheet or a CRM export holds people who agreed to class reminders, and someone has to get each of them onto the right SimpleTexting list without adding anybody twice.

Cotlet does it in your own SimpleTexting account with list\_lists, list\_contacts and add\_contact\_to\_list, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can SimpleTexting do this on its own?

SimpleTexting's API creates and updates contacts and adds them to a list, but it is approval only and needs a developer (checked 23 Oct 2026). Zapier has a Create/Update a Contact action that takes a list name. Neither one checks consent or shows which autoresponder will fire.

## How you do it in SimpleTexting today

1. Open Contacts and find the list the people belong on, or create it first.
2. Add each person with a name and phone number, one by one or through an import.
3. Check that the contact is on the list you meant; a keyword can also add a contact when they text it to your number.
4. Open Autoresponders to see which message fires when a contact joins that list.
5. Repeat for the next sheet. The easy thing to miss is a contact who is already on the list, or an autoresponder you forgot about.

## How to add customers to a SimpleTexting list from a sheet or CRM

Prompt

```
Add everyone from this sign-up sheet who ticked the text reminders box to the Class reminders list, and tell me who was new.
```

1. 01
### Confirm the list exists
list\_lists returns the list names. A list the agent cannot find stops the run; it does not create a new one next to the right one.
2. 02
### Skip who is already there
list\_contacts with the list name shows who is on it. Numbers already present are left alone, so nobody gets the welcome text twice.
3. 03
### Keep only people who agreed
The agent adds only rows that carry the consent you named in the prompt, such as a ticked box. Rows without it go on a list for you.
4. 04
### Add one by one
add\_contact\_to\_list runs per person. A new number becomes a contact, and an autoresponder on that list fires for them, so each call waits for your OK by default.
5. 05
### Report what fires
The agent tells you how many joined and how many contacts the list holds now, so you can compare with the sheet.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Sheet rows: 14
Added 9 to Class reminders (e.g. Sam Okafor, +12125550182)
Already on the list: 3
Skipped, box not ticked: 2
List now holds 62 contacts
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, add this week's new leads from the CRM export to the Patients list.
- Show which contacts on Class reminders are also on Patients and change nothing.
- Add this one number to Class reminders with the name Sam Okafor.

## What SimpleTexting allows, and what to know first

- SimpleTexting tells you to have express consent before texting contacts, and a contact who texts a keyword is added to the list tied to it.
- An autoresponder in SimpleTexting is sent to one contact list, with a delay of minutes, hours, days, weeks or months, and it can fire when a new subscriber joins that list.
- Keywords in SimpleTexting are unlimited at no extra cost, and each one has an auto confirmation message.
- SimpleTexting segments can be used in campaigns and autoresponders as well as lists.

add\_contact\_to\_list asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call add\_contact\_to\_list from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/simpletexting/contact-to-lists \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"list":"Class reminders","contact_phone":"+12125550182","first_name":"Sam","last_name":"Okafor"}'
```

Example response

```
{
"contact": {
"name": "Sam Okafor",
"phone": "+12125550182",
"lists": [
"Class reminders"
],
"created": true
},
"list": "Class reminders",
"contacts_in_list": 62
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is simpletexting\_write → add\_contact\_to\_list. Example data.

### Is it safe to connect SimpleTexting to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to SimpleTexting yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get SimpleTexting once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
