# Qualify and convert new SuiteCRM leads

> Read new SuiteCRM leads, convert the qualified ones into contact, account and opportunity by your rule, and mark junk Dead. Runs daily.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/suitecrm-api-mcp-server/convert-qualified-leads

Web forms and trade-show lists fill the Leads module with status New, and each one has to be opened, judged and either converted or closed before it goes cold.

Cotlet does it in your own SuiteCRM account with list\_records, get\_record, list\_related, convert\_lead and update\_record, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can SuiteCRM do this on its own?

SuiteCRM has no automatic lead qualification, and its v8 API documents no Convert Lead call (checked 23 Oct 2026). Through the API a developer creates the contact, account and opportunity and links them one by one, after an admin creates an OAuth2 client.

## How you do it in SuiteCRM today

1. In Leads, filter the list by Status New, or switch on My Items to see only leads assigned to you.
2. Open each lead's Detail View and read Lead Source, Account Name, Title and the Activities and History tiles.
3. Select Convert Lead from the Actions drop-down, then work through the Contact, Account and Opportunity sections, which SuiteCRM pre-fills from the lead.
4. For each section, either create a new record or deselect Create and pick an existing one; if SuiteCRM shows a duplicate warning, decide whether to create anyway.
5. Click Save. A lead that is not worth it gets its Status changed by hand to Dead or Recycled.

## How to qualify and convert new SuiteCRM leads

Prompt

```
Go through leads in SuiteCRM with status New. Convert the ones whose company has a website and a real contact email, create an opportunity for each, and mark obvious junk as Dead. Leave the rest for me.
```

1. 01
### Read the queue
list\_records runs on Leads with status New and follows next\_cursor to the end, so the whole backlog is judged as one batch. Leads you cannot see because of your role or Security Groups are not in it.
2. 02
### Apply your rule
get\_record reads each lead's Account Name, Title, Lead Source and Website. The agent matches them to your rule, for example "has a Website and a Title", and quotes the field it relied on.
3. 03
### Look for earlier contact
list\_related reads the lead's Activities and History. A lead with a logged call or an archived email is never marked Dead, only listed for you.
4. 04
### Convert the matches
convert\_lead runs Convert Lead for each match with the opportunity name, amount, close date and Sales Stage from your prompt. When SuiteCRM reports a duplicate, the agent stops on that lead and returns the matching record instead of creating a second one.
5. 05
### Close the junk
update\_record sets Status to Dead on obvious junk, such as a lead with no contact details at all. Everything ambiguous stays New with a one-line reason.

### What you get back

Example data

```
New leads read: 17
Converted 8 (e.g. Ana Lopez, Northwind Dental: opportunity "Onboarding", Qualification)
Marked Dead 3 (no email, no company)
Duplicate found 1: Tom Becker already exists as a Contact
Left for you 5
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, convert leads from the Trade Show source that have a Title and list the rest.
- Show me new leads with their Lead Source and last activity, and convert nothing.
- Convert leads with an Account Name that already exists, linking them to that Account instead of creating one.
- Mark leads Recycled when they are older than their Campaign and have no activity.

## What SuiteCRM allows, and what to know first

- SuiteCRM leads carry a Status of New, Assigned, In Process, Converted, Recycled or Dead.
- SuiteCRM fills the Convert Lead screen from the lead's data and, for each of Contact, Account and Opportunity, lets you create a record or pick an existing one.
- On a Lead, Account Name is plain text; it becomes a full Account relationship only on conversion.
- Do Not Call and Email Opt Out carry over from the lead to the new Contact.
- SuiteCRM Security Groups decide which records a user sees, so the agent only converts leads its account can see.

convert\_lead asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect SuiteCRM to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to SuiteCRM yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get SuiteCRM once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
