# Quote Thumbtack Opportunities with an AI agent

Opportunities, also called Open leads, are customers who wrote to other pros and have not hired anyone yet. Each one closes after 48 hours or once five pros show interest, so the jobs you see depend on when you happen to open the tab.

## Can Thumbtack do this on its own?

Thumbtack has no API or webhook for Opportunities (checked 12 Oct 2026). The Partner Platform documents negotiations, messages and reviews, and the webhook sends leads, messages and reviews only. Quote templates under Profile > gear icon > Quote templates shorten the typing, but someone still opens the Opportunities tab, judges each job and taps Send.

## How you do it in Thumbtack today

1. In the Thumbtack Pro app tap Jobs, then Opportunities at the top; Thumbtack sorts the list by relevance and distance and may include jobs outside your job preferences.
2. Tap View details to see how many pros the customer contacted, how many already responded, and the lead fee in the banner under the customer's name and location.
3. Choose to send the customer a quote, pick a quote template (title, price, message and attachments, with the customer's first name filled in) or write one, then tap Send.
4. An Opportunity passed by mistake comes back to the list with Undo.
5. Every template still needs its greeting, price and attachments checked so an old proposal does not go out, and Opportunities spotted in the evening are often already closed.

### Scan by service, soonest closing first  
The agent calls list\_opportunities once per service in your prompt and sorts the results by closes\_at. A job closing in the next hour is handled first; one that has already closed is dropped without a retry.

### Apply your fee ceiling and your map  
Any Opportunity whose cost is above the fee you named is skipped and listed. Because Thumbtack also shows jobs outside your preferences, the agent checks the town against the area in your prompt and skips the rest.

### Price from your rules  
quote\_price comes from the price per service you gave. When a job needs a site visit first, the agent sends a message without a price and says when you can come. Greetings tied to a time of day are left out, so a quote read at night still fits.

### Reach out with your OK  
reach\_out\_to\_opportunity can lead to a charge, so each one waits for your approval by default. You approve the batch in one go, or switch confirmation off once the fee ceiling is in the prompt.

### Count what it could cost  
The report adds up the fees that would be charged if every customer responds. That sum is separate from your weekly budget, which Thumbtack never uses for Opportunities.

Before you automate it

## What Thumbtack allows, and what to know first

- Thumbtack shows each Opportunity's fee upfront and charges it to your payment method only if the customer responds to your message.
- Thumbtack never uses the weekly budget for Opportunities; the Opportunity fee is paid with the payment method on your account instead.
- A Thumbtack Opportunity stops accepting quotes after 48 hours, once five pros have expressed interest, or when the customer cancels the job.
- Thumbtack quote templates work only for Opportunities; leads and the Messages tab use quick replies instead.
- Before reaching out to Opportunities, Thumbtack asks pros to finish their profile, set job preferences and add a payment method.

reach\_out\_to\_opportunity asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.
