# Close finished Tripleseat events

> List Definite Tripleseat events that already took place, check the balance and move them to Closed after your OK. Weekly, hosted.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/tripleseat-api-mcp-server/close-finished-events

Weekend events stay Definite until someone opens each one, checks the balance and edits the status, and the forecast keeps counting events that already happened.

Cotlet does it in your own Tripleseat account with list\_events, get\_event and set\_event\_status, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Tripleseat do this on its own?

Tripleseat changes an event status one event at a time with Edit, and its API can set the status field (checked 17 Oct 2026), but it does not decide which events are ready. For many events Tripleseat offers a Mass-Update Request to Support, listed with "Close Events" as an example, which can carry fees and needs your own criteria written out.

## How you do it in Tripleseat today

1. Open the Calendar or the Events grid, filter by status Definite and find events whose date has passed.
2. Open the event, go to the Docs tab and make sure picklist items and notes include anything added on the day, such as extra food.
3. Go to the Payments tab, match the POS receipt and confirm the guest owes nothing: Total Outstanding must be $0.
4. Check the Tasks tab for anything still due.
5. Click Edit in the top right, choose Closed with the status radio buttons and click Update at the bottom.

## How to close finished Tripleseat events

Prompt

```
List Tripleseat events with status Definite whose date has passed. For each one with nothing due, show me the amount due and, once I say so, change the status to Closed.
```

1. 01
### Find what has passed
list\_events with status Definite and an end date of yesterday returns every event that should be over, with its date, room and name.
2. 02
### Read the balance
get\_event shows amount\_due and the grand total. An event with a balance above zero is not touched and goes on your list with the amount.
3. 03
### Respect what only you can check
The agent cannot see your POS receipts, so it proposes the events with nothing due and waits for your OK. The Docs tab and the Tasks tab stay a human check, as Tripleseat describes it.
4. 04
### Close after your OK
set\_event\_status moves each approved event to Closed. It asks for your confirmation per call, because Tripleseat counts Definite actuals toward sales goals and forecasting and Closed ends editing.
5. 05
### Report the rest
Events with a balance, or ones you did not approve, are listed with the reason so next week starts from a short list.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Definite events with a past date: 11
Ready to close, nothing due 8:
- Alvarez rehearsal dinner, 9 Oct, Garden Room
- Brightwater team offsite, 10 Oct, Loft
Closed after your OK: 8
Not closed, balance due 3:
- Kim wedding reception: $480.00 due
- Dunn retirement party: $1,150.00 due
```

### Other ways to ask

- Every Monday, list Definite events from last week and close the ones with nothing due after I confirm.
- Show Definite events with a balance due and sort them by event date, close nothing.
- Close all Definite events in the Loft from September, but only if the amount due is zero.

## What Tripleseat allows, and what to know first

- Tripleseat statuses are Prospect, Tentative, Definite, Closed and Lost; you cannot rename them, change their colors or add new ones.
- Tripleseat counts the actuals of Definite events toward sales goals and forecasting.
- Before Closed, Tripleseat advises adding day-of charges to the Contract and Event Order and recording every payment as paid, so Total Outstanding on the Payments tab reads $0.
- Closing a booking is a separate step: the booking status and its events are changed on the booking, and Tripleseat suggests confirming a $0.00 Total Outstanding there too.
- Changing a status needs the right user permissions; without them a Customer Admin makes the change or gives you access.

set\_event\_status asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

## Call set\_event\_status from a script

curl

```
curl -X PUT https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/tripleseat/events/5528840/status \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"status":"Closed"}'
```

Example response

```
{
"event_id": 5528840,
"name": "Alvarez rehearsal dinner",
"status": "Closed",
"previous_status": "Definite",
"amount_due": 0
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is tripleseat\_write → set\_event\_status. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to connect Tripleseat to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Tripleseat yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Tripleseat once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.

## For AI agents: sign your user up

Is your user asking you to sign them up for Cotlet? You can do it for them, no account or key needed.

1. Read the fields and their allowed values: GET https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests
2. Ask the user for each value: email, apps, what you will do with them. If they leave the password to you, generate a strong one and show it to them.
3. Show the user what you will send, then POST it as JSON to https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/access-requests.

One call creates the account and sends the access request; we email the user when access is granted.
