# Set up an Ubersuggest project for a new site

> Create an Ubersuggest project for a new domain, add its competitors and tracked keywords in one run instead of clicking through setup screens.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/ubersuggest-api-mcp-server/set-up-seo-project

A new client site needs a project, competitors and a keyword list before Rank Tracking has anything to show, and each of the three lives on its own screen.

Cotlet does it in your own Ubersuggest account with list\_projects, create\_project, add\_competitors and add\_tracked\_keywords, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Ubersuggest do this on its own?

Ubersuggest has no API for creating a project, and its official MCP cannot change your projects (checked 23 Oct 2026). Setup stays a manual flow in the Dashboard.

## How you do it in Ubersuggest today

1. Open the Dashboard, click Add Project, enter the domain and click Start Analysis.
2. Review the Business Summary and click create.
3. Select the competitors to track and continue, then review the suggested prompts for visibility in ChatGPT and Gemini and continue.
4. Review and select the keywords to track.
5. Later, add more competitors from the My Competitors box at the bottom of the Dashboard: Add Competitors to Track, choose language and location, type the URLs, press Enter and click Start Tracking.

## How to set up an Ubersuggest project for a new site

Prompt

```
Create an Ubersuggest project for brewlab-store.com, add three competitors in the United States and track these 12 keywords there.
```

1. 01
### Check for a duplicate
list\_projects shows the domains you already track. Ubersuggest refuses a second project with the same URL, so the agent stops and tells you instead of calling create\_project.
2. 02
### Create the project
create\_project enters the domain, starts the analysis and creates the project from the Business Summary. It skips the competitor, prompt and keyword screens, as Do It Later does, and fills them with the next two tools. If your plan has no free project slot it fails with the limit and never buys an add-on.
3. 03
### Add competitors for one country
add\_competitors takes the URLs and one location. Ubersuggest tracks competitors at country level only, so a city is turned into its country. The agent counts competitors times locations against your plan before it calls.
4. 04
### Add the keywords
add\_tracked\_keywords adds your list for the location you name, and reports the slots used.
5. 05
### Report the setup
The agent reads list\_projects once more and returns the project with its locations, competitor and keyword counts, and when the first weekly ranking update is due.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Created project brewlab-store.com
Competitors tracked in United States: 3
Keywords tracked in United States: 12
First Rank Tracking data: next weekly update
```

### Other ways to ask

- Set up projects for these five client domains with the same competitors and a keyword list per client from the sheet.
- Create the project, add competitors in the United States and the United Kingdom and tell me how many competitor slots that uses.
- Create the project only, and list what is still missing before Rank Tracking shows data.

## What Ubersuggest allows, and what to know first

- Ubersuggest does not allow two projects with the same URL, and the number of projects depends on your subscription plan.
- Competitor tracking is available only at country level, even when the project location is a city.
- Plans cap tracked competitors at 5 (Individual), 10 (Business) and 15 (Agency/Enterprise), and the number is multiplied by the locations you select.
- Removing a project deletes its tracking data for good, and a recreated project starts tracking from the new date.
- A project tracks keyword rankings for a maximum of three years from its creation date.

create\_project, add\_competitors and add\_tracked\_keywords change only your own Ubersuggest data and reach no one else, so they run without asking first.

## Call create\_project from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/ubersuggest/projects \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"domain":"brewlab-store.com"}'
```

Example response

```
{
"project": "brewlab-store.com",
"status": "created",
"business_summary": "Online store selling home coffee brewing equipment.",
"next": "Add competitors and keywords"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is ubersuggest\_write → create\_project. Example data.
