# Triage pending Yotpo reviews with AI

> Publish genuine Yotpo reviews, escalate safety and shipping complaints and hide spam before the 14-day auto-publish clock runs out.

Source: https://cotlet.dev/integrations/yotpo-api-mcp-server/triage-pending-reviews

New reviews wait in Manage Reviews with a countdown. Every morning someone reads them one by one, because a review held by the sentiment filter goes live by itself after 14 days.

Cotlet does it in your own Yotpo account with list\_reviews, get\_review, publish\_review, escalate\_review and hide\_review, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

## Can Yotpo do this on its own?

Yotpo auto-publishes reviews by default, with a minimum star rating you can set under Settings > Publishing Settings, a profanity filter and a negative-sentiment filter (checked 23 Oct 2026). The UGC API can list reviews but its reference has no endpoint to publish, hide or escalate one, and the official MCP covers Discover only. The rules cannot read what a review says about your product.

## How you do it in Yotpo today

1. In the Yotpo Reviews main menu, open Manage Reviews (formerly Moderation) and set the Status filter to Pending.
2. Reviews scheduled to auto-publish come first, each with a yellow indication of the days left, and a weekly email flags the ones about to publish.
3. The admin opens each review and clicks Publish, or Hide and picks a reason from the dropdown, or Escalate and picks a reason. Escalate is offered only on Pending reviews.
4. For many reviews, the admin ticks them and runs Publish, Hide or Escalate on the view; bulk actions apply only to the reviews displayed under the active filters.
5. Photos and videos are never covered by auto-publish, so reviews in Pending media wait for the admin however long the queue is.

## How to triage pending Yotpo reviews with AI

Prompt

```
Go through the pending Yotpo reviews. Publish the ones that are genuine, escalate anything about product safety or shipping to me, and hide spam. Show me the reason for each.
```

1. 01
### Start with the clock
Your agent calls list\_reviews with status pending and reads days\_to\_auto\_publish on each one. Reviews that publish within the next few days are judged first, so nothing goes live unread.
2. 02
### Read the full text
get\_review brings the whole review with its comments and history, not the preview. Reviews whose text is only a photo stay for you, because the agent cannot judge media.
3. 03
### Sort into three piles
Genuine reviews go to publish\_review. Reviews that mention a defective product, a late parcel or a safety issue go to escalate\_review with the matching reason. Clear spam goes to hide\_review with a reason from Yotpo's menu. Anything the agent is unsure about stays pending.
4. 04
### Keep the flags in view
A review flagged for profanity or negative sentiment is never auto-published straight away, and the agent says which flag it saw next to its decision, so you can overrule it.
5. 05
### Report what changed
The agent lists what it published, escalated and hid, and what is left with the days remaining. Publishing and escalating wait for your OK by default.

### What you get back

Example data

```
Pending reviews: 9
Published 5 (e.g. Dana P., 5 stars, Trail Runner Shoe: "Fits true to size")
Escalated 2 (shipping issues: "Arrived three weeks late")
Hidden 1 (same promo link as two other reviews)
Left pending 1: photo only, auto-publishes in 3 days
```

### Other ways to ask

- Publish every pending review with 4 or 5 stars and list the rest for me.
- Show me pending reviews flagged for negative sentiment and what each complains about, but publish nothing.
- Every Monday, list reviews that will auto-publish this week without anyone reading them.

## What Yotpo allows, and what to know first

- Auto-publish is on by default: a review publishes at once if it meets your minimum rating and trips neither the profanity nor the sentiment filter.
- Reviews below the minimum star rating, and reviews held by the negative-sentiment filter, publish after 14 days unless you publish or reject them first.
- Reviews that contain a word on the profanity list, and escalated reviews, are never auto-published.
- Escalation is available only for reviews in the Pending state, and the Escalated badge stays on the review after it is published or hidden.
- Sentiment analysis works only on English reviews, so reviews in other languages are never held by that filter.

publish\_review and escalate\_review ask for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for those tools in your dashboard.

## Call publish\_review from a script

curl

```
curl -X POST https://cotlet.dev/api/v1/yotpo/reviews/412873702/publish \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $COTLET_API_KEY"
```

Example response

```
{
"review_id": "412873702",
"status": "published",
"rating": 5,
"product": {
"name": "Trail Runner Shoe",
"sku": "TR-100"
},
"published_at": "2026-10-23T08:05:00Z"
}
```

MCP: add https://cotlet.dev/mcp/v1 with the same key; the call is yotpo\_write → publish\_review. Example data.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why not just turn auto-publish on for everything?

You can, and Yotpo recommends publishing everything straight away. This job is for stores that keep a minimum rating or the sentiment filter on and still want a person-quality read of the held reviews before the 14 days pass.

### Is it safe to connect Yotpo to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Yotpo yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Yotpo once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
