Libsyn automation · runs monthly
Get a monthly Libsyn downloads report for sponsors
At the start of each month a sponsor or ad network asks for the same numbers: downloads for last month, where listeners are and which apps they use. In Libsyn that is a date range, three tables on the Stats page and a spreadsheet you assemble yourself.
Cotlet does it in your own Libsyn account with get_show_stats, get_downloads_breakdown, list_episodes, get_episode_stats and export_stats_report, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Official options
Can Libsyn do this on its own?
Libsyn shows these numbers on its Stats page and lists a Stats API only for LibsynPro and Professional or Enterprise customers, with no public reference (checked 12 Oct 2026). The Stats Export zip covers fixed ranges of 30, 60 or 90 days or all time, so a clean calendar month has to be read table by table from the Stats page.
By hand
How you do it in Libsyn today
- Click Stats at the top of Libsyn, check that the toggle shows IAB, and use Statistics By Date Range to select last calendar month.
- Scroll past Downloads by Episode to Downloads per Country, Downloads per User Agent and Downloads per Destination (Advanced Plan and higher); every table below Statistics By Date Range follows the selected dates, and tables such as Downloads by Episode have their own CSV or PDF download.
- Or click Download Report for the Stats Export zip, which offers only Last 30, 60 or 90 Days or All Time, not a calendar month.
- Open Episode Totals to compare episodes by their first 7, 30 and 90 days, then copy everything into one sheet for the sponsor, every month.
With an agent
How to get a monthly Libsyn downloads report for sponsors
Prompt
On the 2nd of every month, give me last month's IAB downloads by country and by listening app, the top 5 episodes of the month and a CSV I can forward to sponsors. - 01
Fix the month and the metric
The agent sets the first to the last day of the previous month and uses IAB downloads unless you ask for unique. It names the metric in the report, because sponsors compare IAB numbers across hosts.
- 02
Total, then split three ways
get_show_stats gives the month total and the daily curve. get_downloads_breakdown runs for country, user_agent and destination over the same dates, so the three tables add up to the same total.
- 03
Rank episodes fairly
list_episodes finds what was released in the month and get_episode_stats reads each one's first 30 days, so a new release is not beaten by an older episode that simply had more time.
- 04
Explain the gaps
The agent notes that Apple Podcasts is counted inside the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed destination, and that YouTube views are not downloads. On a plan below Advanced the breakdowns fail with a plan error, and the report says so and keeps the totals.
- 05
Attach a file when asked
export_stats_report adds the Libsyn Stats Export zip in csv, xlsb or pdf when a sponsor wants Libsyn's own file, with the nearest fixed range noted next to it.

Attached: stats-2026-09.csv. Other ways to ask
- Which of my last 10 episodes got the most downloads in their first 30 days?
- Compare Q3 2026 with Q2 by country and flag any country that grew by more than a quarter.
- Send the sponsor a PDF Stats Export for the last 90 days, by country and by episode.
- Every Monday, tell me last week's downloads and how the newest episode compares with the previous one after 7 days.
Before you automate it
What Libsyn allows, and what to know first
- Libsyn's country, user agent and destination tables and the Stats Export are part of advanced stats, which come with the Advanced Plan and higher; Basic and Plus show episode, all-time and daily stats.
- Libsyn counts Apple Podcasts through the Apple Podcasts / Libsyn Classic Feed destination, which may also include other directories reading the same feed.
- Libsyn's IAB downloads follow IAB 2.1 guidelines, need at least one minute of content and exclude known datacenter IP ranges, so they normally come out lower than Unique downloads.
- Libsyn lists YouTube views in their own section and does not add them to downloads or any other statistic.
- Libsyn's This Month figure counts from the first of the current month, while Last 30 Days reaches back into the previous month.
Every tool here only reads, so it can run monthly from n8n, Make, Zapier or cron without waiting for your OK.

Frequently asked questions
Which plan do I need for downloads by country and app?
Libsyn's Advanced Plan or higher, the plans with advanced stats (Advanced, Advanced 650 to 1500 and Max). On Basic or Plus the agent still reports monthly totals and per-episode downloads.
