Set up a new client domain in AccuRanker
A new client signs on Monday, and you want the domain, its competitors and the first keywords in AccuRanker before the kickoff call, set up the same way as the last ten clients.
Cotlet does it in your own AccuRanker account with add_domain, add_competitor and add_keywords, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.
Hosted · nothing to install or maintain
Can AccuRanker do this on its own?
The Write API (v4) creates domains and keywords with an API token, and it can only create a domain on a group the token is authorized for (checked 23 Oct 2026). The official MCP is read-only. The MCP tool reference lists no tool for competitors beyond reading domains.
How you do it in AccuRanker today
- Create the group the client belongs to first, because the Add Domain form needs one.
- Open Domains in the main menu, choose Add Domain and fill in the domain name without https:// or www, a display name, the default search engine, locale and location, and the group.
- Open Advanced Settings if the client needs subdomains included or exact match, then click Add Domain to save.
- Open the Competitors tab, select Add competitor, and enter each competitor domain with an optional Google Business name.
- Click Add keywords and repeat the locale and device choices for the starter list. Every client repeats these steps and the order matters, because keywords need the domain to exist.
How to set up a new client domain in AccuRanker
Set up acme-outdoors.com in AccuRanker for a new client: put it in the Clients group, default to Google United States, add rei.com and backcountry.com as competitors, and add the keywords from my brief. - 01
Check the domain is new
The agent calls list_domains with the client name and the domain. A match means the client is already set up, so it stops and reports the existing domain instead of adding a second one.
- 02
Create the domain
add_domain takes the domain name without https:// or www, a display name that stays distinct among your clients, and the group by name. A group that does not exist fails at once, because AccuRanker needs the group before the domain, and the agent asks you to create it.
- 03
Add competitors
add_competitor runs once per competitor from your brief, with the Google Business name when a competitor has a local listing. A competitor already on the domain is left alone, and the agent shows list_competitors afterwards.
- 04
Add the starter keywords
add_keywords uses the locale you chose as the domain default, so the first list lands in the right country. The agent reports the tracked keyword count first, since each keyword counts per locale and device.
- 05
Report the setup
You get the domain ID, group, competitors and keyword count in one message, ready to paste into the client's kickoff notes.
What you get back
Domain created: Acme Outdoors (acme-outdoors.com), group Clients
Default: Google, United States (English)
Competitors added: 2
Keywords added: 25 (50 tracked keywords on desktop and mobile) Other ways to ask
- Add these five client domains from my sheet to the Clients group with the same defaults.
- Set up the domain with subdomains included and exact match off.
- Add the domain and its competitors only; I will add keywords after the call.
- Copy the competitors of acme-outdoors.com to every domain in the Outdoor clients group.
What AccuRanker allows, and what to know first
- AccuRanker needs a group before a domain: every domain belongs to one, chosen in the Add Domain form.
- AccuRanker allows an unlimited number of domains, and the domain name is entered without https:// and www.
- Advanced Settings on a domain are Show share of voice as a percentage, Include subdomains and Exact match, which counts only results whose URL exactly matches the domain name.
- A Google Business name is optional on a domain and on a competitor, and helps AccuRanker find local ranking data when Google does not link to the local results.
- A competitor is added from the Competitors tab and removed with the delete button to its right.
add_keywords asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.
