Mark Bandcamp merch orders as shipped with tracking

You bought postage for a stack of record and shirt orders in Pirate Ship or Shippo, dropped the parcels off, and now every Bandcamp order still says unshipped. Each one needs its tracking number pasted back by hand before the fan hears anything.

Can Bandcamp do this on its own?

Bandcamp's Merch Orders API has update_shipped (with carrier and tracking code) and mark_date_range_as_shipped, but the API is granted on request to labels and fulfillment partners (checked 12 Oct 2026). A label bought through Bandcamp's EasyPost integration can be marked shipped from its purchase confirmation page, and marking an order shipped inside ShipStation skips Bandcamp's own shipping email. Parcels labeled in Pirate Ship, Shippo or any other outside service are marked one by one on the Merch Orders page.

By hand

How you do it in Bandcamp today

  1. Open Merch Orders from the top navigation bar of your Bandcamp account (or from the Sales section of the Tools page) and look at the unshipped orders.
  2. Buy postage either with the Buy Shipping Label link on an order (Bandcamp's EasyPost integration, paid from a prepaid EasyPost wallet) or in an outside service such as Pirate Ship, Shippo or ShipStation, using the "print shipping labels" link at the top of Merch Orders for address labels and packing slips.
  3. Back on Merch Orders, click "mark as shipped" on one order, paste its tracking number from the shipping service, add a note and confirm, so Bandcamp emails the buyer.
  4. Repeat for every parcel, switching between the shipping service tab and Bandcamp. Two buyers with the same surname, a split order or a skipped row is easy to miss, and a missed order means a fan who writes in asking where the record is.

How to mark Bandcamp merch orders as shipped with tracking

Here is today's Pirate Ship export. Match each tracking number to my unshipped Bandcamp orders by buyer name and mark them shipped with a short thank-you note.
  1. 01

    Start from the parcels, not the order list

    You hand the agent the label export or a list of tracking numbers with names. It reads the unshipped orders with list_merch_orders and pairs each parcel by buyer name and ship-to city, then by the items in the box.

  2. 02

    Refuse to guess on a close match

    Two open orders from the same buyer, or two buyers who share a surname, are listed back to you instead of being picked. A parcel with no matching unshipped order is reported as possibly marked already or shipped from another origin.

  3. 03

    Check what is in the parcel

    An order with several items where the parcel holds only some (a pre-order LP plus a shirt, for example) is held back, because marking it would tell the fan everything is on its way.

  4. 04

    Mark with your OK, one order at a time

    For each confirmed pair the agent calls mark_order_shipped with the tracking number and your note. Bandcamp sends the fan the shipping email right then, so the agent shows you the full batch before the first call.

  5. 05

    Close the loop

    At the end it lists orders still unshipped and older than your usual dispatch time, so nothing waits a second week by accident.

  • Mark only the UK orders shipped; the US parcels go out on Thursday.
  • Which merch orders have been unshipped for more than a week? Do not mark anything.

Before you automate it

What Bandcamp allows, and what to know first

  • Bandcamp sends the shipping email at the moment an order is marked shipped on the Merch Orders page, with the tracking number and note you entered.
  • Marking a Bandcamp order shipped inside ShipStation skips the Bandcamp shipping email, so Bandcamp advises keeping ShipStation's own notifications on.
  • Bandcamp tells sellers to keep a tracking number for every merch order, or a receipt or photo of the package when the service has no tracking, as proof of shipment.
  • A fulfillment partner added with the Add Fulfillment Partner tool on Merch Orders sees only merch order data, and the seller can limit the partner to chosen shipping origins.

mark_order_shipped asks for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Does Bandcamp sell shipping labels with postage?

Yes, through EasyPost: the Buy Shipping Label link on an order buys postage from a prepaid EasyPost wallet you fund by credit card, and refunds for cancelled labels go back to that wallet. The separate "print shipping labels" link on Merch Orders prints address labels and packing slips only. Orders labeled outside Bandcamp still need their tracking numbers entered, which is the part the agent does.
