Bandsintown automation
Add Bandsintown tour dates from a spreadsheet
The routing is final, the tour sheet lives in Google Sheets or Excel, and the announce is Thursday. Now every row has to become a Bandsintown event with the right venue, local time and a ticket link that goes straight to the purchase page.
Cotlet does it in your own Bandsintown account with list_events, search_venues and create_event, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Can Bandsintown do this on its own?
Bandsintown has two native routes (checked 12 Oct 2026): the Add Event form, one date at a time, and Upload Events, which takes Bandsintown's own template spreadsheet and publishes the new events within minutes. The public API only reads artist info and events, so no script can create an event. Upload Events does not read the tour sheet you already keep or hold valid rows as drafts until the announce, and the Add Event form saves drafts only one date at a time. Neither route checks your list against events Bandsintown imported on its own from Ticketmaster, AXS, Eventbrite, See Tickets, promoters or venues.
By hand
How you do it in Bandsintown today
- In the Bandsintown for Artists dashboard, open Events and click Add Event, then pick Single-Page Mode or Multi-Step Mode for each date.
- In the Location section of the Bandsintown event form, choose Venue and search the drop-down; a venue that is not listed needs Add a Custom Location and Submit.
- For a whole tour, Bandsintown offers Upload Events on the Home or Events page: download its template spreadsheet, retype your dates into its columns and upload the file.
- Bandsintown publishes uploaded events to the artist page within a few minutes, which does not suit a tour that is still under embargo.
- Before or after either route, compare the list on the Events page with shows Bandsintown already imported from ticketing partners, agents and venues. Duplicates and wrong venues are easy to miss when a tour has 20 rows.
With an agent
How to add Bandsintown tour dates from a spreadsheet
Prompt
Add the 12 dates in tour.csv to our Bandsintown page as drafts with their ticket links. Skip any show Bandsintown already imported from Ticketmaster or the venue, and list the venues you could not match. - 01
Read the sheet and normalize each row
The agent reads date, city, venue and ticket URL from your file, whatever the column names. Show times are kept in the venue's local time; a row without a time is flagged rather than given a made-up doors time.
- 02
Look for shows that are already there
Before creating anything, list_events with status all covers the tour window. A row whose date and city match an existing event, often one imported from a ticketing partner, is skipped and reported, so fans do not see the same show twice.
- 03
Match every venue
search_venues runs with the venue name and city. One clear match is attached. Several close matches (two rooms in the same building, a club and its upstairs bar) stop that row for your choice. With no match, the agent uses a custom location with name, city and country instead of leaving the place blank.
- 04
Check ticket links before saving
Bandsintown only accepts a link to the event's own purchase page. Links to a tour page, a venue homepage or a sign-up form are left off and listed for you, and the first valid link per show is labeled Tickets.
- 05
Save drafts, then hand over
create_event saves each remaining row as a draft. The agent reports drafts created, rows skipped and why. Publishing waits for you, or for a publish_event call you approve with a time and the Notify my Followers choice.
What you get back
Example data
tour.csv: 12 rows read.
9 drafts created, earliest Leeds, Brudenell Social Club, 14 Nov 2026 20:00.
2 skipped: Manchester 15 Nov and Glasgow 18 Nov are already on the page (imported from Ticketmaster).
1 needs you: "The Lexington" in London matches two venues. Pick one.
Ticket link left off for Bristol 20 Nov: it points to the venue's listings page, not the purchase page.
Nothing is public yet. Other ways to ask
- Add only the European leg from rows 13 to 24 of the tour sheet and set the on-sale time on each ticket link to Friday 10:00 venue time.
- Compare our tour sheet with what is on Bandsintown and list missing dates and dates that differ, without creating anything.
- Add the festival dates in festivals.xlsx as drafts with the other artists on the bill in the lineup.
Before you automate it
What Bandsintown allows, and what to know first
- Bandsintown's Upload Events publishes new events to the artist page within a few minutes, while the Add Event form offers Save as a Draft, Schedule to Publish and Publish.
- Bandsintown rejects a ticket link that does not go to the event's own purchase page; in a bulk upload the event is created as a draft without that link and the row is flagged in the upload summary.
- Bandsintown imports events from ticketing platforms such as Ticketmaster, AXS, Eventbrite and See Tickets, plus agencies, promoters and venues, and publishes them unless Auto-Publish Imported Events is off in Settings.
- Bandsintown's Schedule to Publish needs a time at least 4 hours from now and at least 15 minutes before the show starts.
- Events without a complete location are left out of Bandsintown's recommendations, and a lineup artist must have a Bandsintown page and add the date to their own page separately.
create_event changes only your own Bandsintown data and reach no one else, so it runs without asking first.

Frequently asked questions
Does adding a draft notify my followers?
No. A Bandsintown draft is not public. Followers are notified when the event is published with Notify my Followers on, and publish_event has a notify_followers switch for that moment.
Can I stop Bandsintown from adding imported dates while the agent builds the tour?
Yes, in Bandsintown itself: turn off Auto-Publish Imported Events in Settings and new imports wait on the Pending Events page for your review.
