Beautiful.ai automation
Write speaker notes for a Beautiful.ai deck with AI
The investor update is designed and approved, but the Notes box under most slides is still empty the night before you present. Typing notes slide by slide in the editor takes longer than the slides did.
Cotlet does it in your own Beautiful.ai account with list_presentations, get_slides and set_speaker_notes, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Can Beautiful.ai do this on its own?
Beautiful.ai states that its generative AI (Gemini and Claude) writes text for slides and speaker notes, and its help center documents notes as a per-slide box under the Notes tab (checked 12 Oct 2026). We found no help-center article for filling the notes of a whole existing deck in one pass. The API creates new presentations only and the MCP connector does not edit existing slides, so neither reads or writes notes.
By hand
How you do it in Beautiful.ai today
- Open the presentation in the Beautiful.ai editor and click the Notes tab at the far bottom right of the editor.
- Type the notes for that slide in the Speaker Notes box; Beautiful.ai saves them automatically.
- Move to the next slide in the slide navigator on the left and repeat for every slide in the deck.
- Check the result in Presenter View: click Present, hover to bring up the control box and choose Presenter View, which shows the notes on the right.
- Each slide is a separate box with no overview of which slides still lack notes, so a gap shows up only while rehearsing.

How to write speaker notes for a Beautiful.ai deck with AI
Prompt
Write speaker notes for each slide of the investor update: about 40 seconds per slide, plain spoken English, and keep the notes I already wrote. - 01
Ask how the talk runs
Before writing, the agent asks for the audience, the total time and who presents which part. With 12 slides in 8 minutes it plans about 40 seconds of spoken text per slide, and fewer words for title and section slides.
- 02
Read the whole deck first
get_slides gives the agent every slide's text, layout and current notes. It reads the deck end to end so slide 7 can refer back to the number on slide 3 instead of repeating it.
- 03
Keep what you wrote
Slides that already have notes are left as they are, unless you ask the agent to tighten them. Skipped slides get no notes by default, since they do not appear when you present.
- 04
Write notes that add to the slide
Each note covers what the slide does not show: the point to land, the transition to the next slide and the likely question. For a chart slide the agent writes the takeaway, not a list of the plotted values.
- 05
Save, then flag what needs you
set_speaker_notes writes one slide at a time. Facts the agent cannot back from the deck, like a customer name or a target date, are marked [check] inside the note instead of being invented.
What you get back
Example data
Investor update, 12 slides, 8 minutes planned.
Notes written on 9 slides, about 90 words each.
Kept your notes on slides 1 and 6.
Slide 10 is skipped, so it got no notes.
Slide 4: [check] the churn figure, the slide says 3.1% and your outline said 2.9%.
Rehearsal time at a normal pace: about 7 minutes 40 seconds. Other ways to ask
- Write short bullet-style notes for the sales kickoff deck, three bullets per slide, for a presenter who knows the material.
- Rewrite the notes of the board deck in German for our Munich office and keep the slides in English.
- Fill notes only for slides 5 to 9 of the onboarding deck; Anna presents those.
Before you automate it
What Beautiful.ai allows, and what to know first
- Beautiful.ai saves speaker notes automatically as you type in the Speaker Notes box; there is no separate save step.
- Beautiful.ai Presenter View shows the speaker notes on the right, the current slide on the left, a filmstrip of upcoming slides and a timer for the current slide.
- Both Beautiful.ai PowerPoint exports, editable PowerPoint and PowerPoint images, carry the speaker notes into the PPT file.
- Beautiful.ai has no print button for notes; its help center says to export to PowerPoint, set up the Notes Master and print Notes Pages from PowerPoint.
- Editable PowerPoint export in Beautiful.ai needs a Pro, Team or Enterprise plan.
set_speaker_notes changes only your own Beautiful.ai data and reach no one else, so it runs without asking first.
