Schedule a ClickSend SMS campaign to a contact list

Your Monday promo goes to a whole contact list, and every week someone opens SMS campaigns, picks the list and the sender, adds the opt-out and sets the clock icon.

Cotlet does it in your own ClickSend account with list_contact_lists, create_sms_campaign and list_sms_campaigns, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Hosted · nothing to install or maintain

Can ClickSend do this on its own?

ClickSend has a REST API with SMS campaigns, and its Zapier app has a Send SMS Campaign action (checked 23 Oct 2026). The official MCP server sends one SMS at a time and has no campaign tool, so an agent in Claude Code or Cursor cannot start a campaign through it.

How you do it in ClickSend today

  1. Log in to the ClickSend Dashboard and check your credit balance.
  2. Go to SMS campaigns, click Add new campaign and type a nickname that only you see.
  3. Pick the contact list in To and a sender in From, then write the message with placeholders such as [First Name], templates, emojis and shortened links.
  4. For a marketing message add the opt-out that fits the sender: Reply STOP for a shared or dedicated number, an unsubscribe link for every sender type.
  5. Pick Send Now, or set the time with the clock icon, then check the date and cost in the confirmation box and click Send.
  6. A scheduled campaign waits under SMS > SMS Campaigns with the status Scheduled until it goes out, so the same clicks come back every week.

How to schedule a ClickSend SMS campaign to a contact list

Prompt

Schedule an SMS campaign to Newsletter subscribers for Monday 9:00 from our dedicated number: "Black Friday starts Nov 27. Subscribers shop first." Add Reply STOP.
  1. 01

    Find the list

list_contact_lists runs with the name from your prompt. If two lists match, for example "Newsletter" and "Newsletter old", the agent stops and asks which one, because a campaign goes to everyone on the list.

  2. 02

    Check the sender

The agent compares the sender with the country of the list. Alpha tags cannot be used for US messaging and US messages need a registered dedicated number, so for a US list it refuses an alpha tag instead of swapping the sender for you.

  3. 03

    Choose the opt-out

For a marketing text the agent sets opt_out to match the sender: reply_stop for a shared or dedicated number, unsubscribe_link for an own number. A text with no opt-out is created only if you say it is not marketing.

  4. 04

    Set the time

send_at must be within 4 months and is read in the timezone set in your Dashboard, so the agent repeats the date and time back before the OK.

  5. 05

    Create after your OK

create_sms_campaign waits for your OK by default. The confirmation shows the date, the recipient count and the cost, the same as the dashboard box before Send.

  6. 06

    Confirm it is queued

list_sms_campaigns with status Scheduled shows the campaign with its send time, so you know it is waiting. Scheduled campaigns do not appear in SMS History.

What you get back

Example data

Campaign "Black Friday teaser" scheduled for Mon 26 Oct, 09:00
List: Newsletter subscribers (1840 recipients)
Sender: +15550100188 (dedicated number), Reply STOP added
Cost shown at OK: 73.60 for 1 message part each

Other ways to ask

  • Every Thursday at 10:00, send the weekend offer to VIP customers from our alpha tag with an unsubscribe link.
  • Draft the message for the Spring sale list in this chat and wait for my OK before you schedule anything.
  • Cancel Monday's campaign and schedule it again for Friday at 9:00.

What ClickSend allows, and what to know first

  • A scheduled campaign goes to everyone on the list at send time, so contacts added after you scheduled it also receive it.
  • ClickSend schedules SMS up to 4 months ahead; a later date means the message does not go out.
  • An SMS campaign sends to one contact list of up to 20,000 recipients, while Quick SMS reaches up to 1,000 contacts.
  • Reply STOP works automatically only in SMS campaigns; Quick SMS supports neither Reply STOP nor unsubscribe links.
  • Link click tracking, with country, browser, device and OS, exists only for links sent in SMS campaigns.

create_sms_campaign asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to connect ClickSend to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to ClickSend yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get ClickSend once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click.
