Evite automation
Add guests to an Evite invitation from a spreadsheet
The guest list arrives as a CSV from HR or a shared Google Sheet, with headers, first and last names in separate columns and a few people who are already invited. Evite's Upload File takes a bare three-column Excel file, so the list gets reshaped or retyped before every batch.
Cotlet does it in your own Evite account with list_events, list_guests and add_guests, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Can Evite do this on its own?
Evite has no API to add guests (checked 12 Oct 2026). The Add Guests page offers five ways in: typing emails or phone numbers, Use Past Guest Lists, Search Address Book, Import from Google and Upload File for an Excel spreadsheet. Upload File only accepts the fixed A, B, C layout, Evite leaves the duplicate check to the host, and its help center says to email a file that will not upload to support@evite.com.
By hand
How you do it in Evite today
- Open My Invitations, find the event, select Add Guests and then More ways to add.
- Reshape the sheet for Upload File: names in Column A, email in Column B, phone in Column C, with no column headers, no special characters and nothing filled in past Column C.
- Before uploading, go to Manage Event and search each newcomer by email address or phone number, since a misspelled name does not show in a name search.
- Choose the file, click Upload File, review the list and click Send Now in the top right corner. Leaving the Add Guests page before that click keeps the guests pending with no invitation sent.
- Check the top of the list for guests marked Undelivered in red. Every new batch repeats the reformatting and the duplicate check, and a double invite to a colleague is easy to send.
With an agent
How to add guests to an Evite invitation from a spreadsheet
Prompt
Add everyone in team.csv to the offsite invitation, skip anyone already invited, and show me the list before it goes out. - 01
Read the file as it is
The agent maps whatever columns the file has to a name, an email and a phone: first and last name columns are joined, headers and extra columns are ignored. Rows with neither an email nor a phone are set aside, since Evite cannot invite them directly.
- 02
Check who is already on the list
list_guests returns the current guests, and the agent matches newcomers by email and by phone digits, never by name. Matches are skipped and named in the report, which is how the double invite Evite warns about is avoided.
- 03
Pick email or text per guest
A row with only a phone number is invited by text when the number is from the US or Canada. Other countries fall back to the email on the same row, or go to a list of people you can reach with the shareable link.
- 04
Merge shared inboxes
Two rows with the same email become one guest with both names, the way Evite's help center suggests for couples and families, so the address gets one invitation instead of two.
- 05
Check the cap, then add after your OK
The agent adds the current and new totals against the 750-guest limit, or 2,500 on Evite Pro, and stops before going over. On an invitation that is already sent, add_guests delivers it to each new guest at once, so the final list is shown to you before the call.
What you get back
Example data
Team offsite dinner, Sat 14 Nov 2026: 46 rows in team.csv.
Already invited, skipped: 9 (matched by email: 8, by phone: 1).
Added after your OK: 34 by email, 1 by text (Priya Nair, +1 202 555 0143).
Merged: "Dana & Chris Reyes" share dana@example.com, added once.
Not added: 2 rows with no email or phone (Marta K., Leo S.), 1 UK number for Jamie Fox with no email; send them the shareable link.
Guest list is now 78 of 750. Other ways to ask
- Invite everyone who said yes to last year's holiday party to this year's copy of it.
- Add the 12 new hires from new-hires.csv to the offsite and tell me if any of them were invited before.
- Here are three phone numbers from the group chat with names; add them to the BBQ by text.
- Copy last year's holiday party, move it to 12 Dec at 7 pm and add the same guest list, but do not send until I say so.
Before you automate it
What Evite allows, and what to know first
- Free and Premium Evite invitations hold up to 750 guests each, and Evite Pro raises the limit to 2,500 per invitation.
- Evite text invitations work only for US and Canada numbers, every number needs a guest name, and the texts come from the short code 296-94.
- Evite cannot yet track separate RSVPs per household member, so a family sharing one email answers as one guest with one party count.
- Guests already added to an Evite list individually cannot use that event's shareable link; the link is only for people not on the list.
- Evite lets the host fix a guest's email or phone with Save & Resend only until that guest has received the invitation and RSVPed.
add_guests asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.
