Tag and title new Flickr photos

You upload a shoot of 80 photos on Sunday night. Flickr keeps the camera file names as titles, the tags are empty, and the photos are hard to find until someone types the words in.

Cotlet does it in your own Flickr account with list_photos, get_photo and update_photo, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Hosted · nothing to install or maintain

Can Flickr do this on its own?

Flickr has no automatic tagging of your own words and no scheduled bulk edit (checked 17 Oct 2026). Camera Roll and the Organizr change many photos at once, but you pick the photos and type each tag yourself. The Flickr API can set titles and tags, but new keys are for Pro subscribers only, and there is no official MCP server.

How you do it in Flickr today

  1. On the web, hover over You and select Camera Roll, then select one or more photos.
  2. Select Edit, enter keywords in the "Add new tags" field, and select Save. Flickr marks this bulk tagging as web only.
  3. For titles and descriptions, open the Organizr from You > Organize, drag photos from the filmstrip into the editing window and use its bulk edit tools, on a desktop or laptop browser only.
  4. For one photo, open the photo page, select Add tags (or Edit tag when tags exist), type a keyword, press Enter and select Done.
  5. The routine repeats after every upload, and the file name stays as the title on every photo you skip.

How to tag and title new Flickr photos

Prompt

Find photos I uploaded in the last 7 days with no tags, look at each one, and add a clear title and 5 to 8 tags. Keep titles I already wrote.
  1. 01

    Find the untagged photos

Your agent calls list_photos with uploaded_since set to your window and untagged on, then pages through the cursor, so a long upload night is handled as one batch.

  2. 02

    Look before writing

For each photo, get_photo returns the current title, description, tags and privacy. The agent skips a photo whose title you already wrote and only adds what is missing.

  3. 03

    Write from your style rules

The agent follows the rules in your prompt: place first, then subject, a fixed set of tags such as the series name. It keeps tags short, lower case and free of repeats.

  4. 04

    Save without touching privacy

update_photo sets the title, description and tags in one call and leaves who can see the photo as it is. The edit reaches nobody new, so it runs without asking, and you can undo it by calling it again.

  5. 05

    Report what changed

The agent lists each photo with its new title and tags, and names the photos it left alone, so you can check a batch from your phone.

What you get back

Example data

Untagged photos from the last 7 days: 24
Titled and tagged 21, e.g. "Lisbon tram 28 at dusk": lisbon, tram, dusk, street
Left alone 3 (title already written by you)
All 21 keep their current privacy

Other ways to ask

  • Add the tag "portfolio-2026" to every public photo in my Lisbon 2026 album.
  • Every Monday, tag the photos I uploaded last week and send me the list of titles.
  • Rewrite titles that still look like camera file names, but do not change tags.
  • Suggest tags for these 10 photos as a list and change nothing.

What Flickr allows, and what to know first

  • Flickr lets you add tags in bulk from Camera Roll and the Organizr, and the help center marks bulk tag editing as a web action, not an app one.
  • Flickr lets a member fill the title by hand, set it from the file name or leave it blank, which is why many photos arrive titled IMG_1234.
  • Flickr renames a tag for all your photos from your About page: scroll to Tags and select Edit next to the tag.
  • The Organizr works only in a desktop or laptop browser; in the app or a mobile browser, edits go through the Camera Roll.
  • A tag change does not touch privacy, so an edit on a private photo stays private.

update_photo changes only your own Flickr data and reach no one else, so it runs without asking first.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to connect Flickr to Cotlet?

Yes. You sign in to Flickr yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Flickr once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
