Block staff time off in the Planity agenda
A stylist asks for every Monday morning off from next week, and until the owner blocks it, clients can still book those hours online.
Cotlet does it in your own Planity account with list_staff, list_appointments and block_time, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.
Hosted · nothing to install or maintain
Can Planity do this on its own?
Planity blocks time per staff member by hand in the agenda and has no API for it (checked 23 Oct 2026). It does not list the appointments that were booked before the block. Deadlines for online booking and cancellation are a separate setting.
How you do it in Planity today
- In the agenda, the owner clicks the start time in the column of the staff member.
- The owner picks the end time of the unavailability, which makes a block of that length.
- For a block that repeats, the owner clicks "Répéter" and sets it to every day or once a week, for example.
- The owner clicks "Valider" at the top right. From then on nobody can book online in those hours.
- Bookings made before the block stay in the agenda. The owner finds them by reading the column and moves or deletes each one by hand.
How to block staff time off in the Planity agenda
Block Amélie's agenda every Monday from 9:00 to 13:00 starting 26 October. List the appointments already booked in those hours so I can move them. - 01
Find the staff member
list_staff returns the ids of the agenda columns. The agent matches the name in your prompt. If two staff members share a first name, it asks which one instead of blocking the wrong column.
- 02
Look at the hours first
list_appointments runs for each date the block covers, filtered to that staff member, and returns the appointments inside the blocked hours. A weekly block is checked for the next few Mondays, because that is when the clash is likely.
- 03
Block the time
block_time creates the block with repeat set to weekly. It reaches no client and remove_block undoes it, so it does not wait for your OK. It leaves existing appointments where they are.
- 04
Hand over the clashes
The agent lists every appointment inside the block with client, service and time. It does not move any on its own: update_appointment and delete_appointment each wait for your OK, and Planity deletes one appointment at a time.
- 05
Report
The agent returns the block id, the staff member and the repeat rule, so you can check the agenda column or remove the block later.
What you get back
Blocked: Amélie, Mondays 9:00 to 13:00 from 26 Oct (weekly)

Appointments already inside the block: 2
- Mon 26 Oct 9:30 Léa Martin, Coupe femme
- Mon 2 Nov 10:00 Hugo Martin, Brushing Other ways to ask
- Block Lucas from 24 to 31 December, all day, and list who is booked.
- Block every staff member for one hour at 13:00 each day for the team lunch.
- Remove the Monday block for Amélie starting in January.
What Planity allows, and what to know first
- Planity describes the block for one-off absences such as holidays and recurring ones such as a weekly day off.
- With a block in place, Planity says no client can book online in the blocked hours.
- Planity lets you delete appointments from the agenda without being bound by the cancellation deadline, one appointment at a time, with no bulk delete.
- Online booking and cancellation deadlines are set under Admin > Paramètres Etablissement > Gestion horaires et délais > Délais RDV en ligne, and they apply to clients, not to a block.
block_time changes only your own Planity data and reach no one else, so it runs without asking first.
