SpyFu automation · runs weekly
Schedule SpyFu PDF reports for clients
Every client expects a recurring SEO recap, and in SpyFu each report is its own dialog on one page of one domain, so ten clients means ten rounds of clicking.
Cotlet does it in your own SpyFu account with list_scheduled_reports and create_scheduled_report, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.
Hosted · nothing to install or maintain
Can SpyFu do this on its own?
SpyFu sets up scheduled PDF reports only in its web app (checked 23 Oct 2026). The developer reference lists no endpoint to create or list reports, and the official MCP endpoint publishes no tool list, so an agent built on the API cannot do this job.
How you do it in SpyFu today
- Open the page the report should come from, for example Domain Overview, and click Create Report. On pages such as Top Pages the same option sits inside the Export button.
- Uncheck the sections you do not want, because the report includes every segment of the overview page by default.
- Set a title and optional comments for the front page. SpyFu calls this a white label feature that may be available only on certain plans.
- Enter the email addresses, choose how often the report goes out and click Generate PDF. That click also sets up the recurring emails.
- Later, change recipients or the schedule, or turn a report off, under Account Settings > Scheduled PDF Reports.
- The dialog starts from one page of one domain, so a new client, or a client who asks for a second report, means repeating the whole path.
How to schedule SpyFu PDF reports for clients
Set up a monthly Domain Overview PDF report for each client domain in my list, email it to the contact I named for that client, and skip any client who already gets one. - 01
Read what already goes out
list_scheduled_reports returns every report from Account Settings > Scheduled PDF Reports with its page, domain, recipients, schedule and on or off state. The agent skips a client who already has the same page scheduled, so nobody gets two copies.
- 02
Map each client to a page
Your prompt names the page per client, for example Domain Overview for an owner and Ranking History for an SEO lead. If a client has no page named, the agent asks instead of choosing one, because the page decides which sections the PDF holds.
- 03
Keep the recipients you named
The agent passes only the addresses from your list. It never adds an address it found elsewhere, because the PDF leaves your account for good.
- 04
Create after your OK
create_scheduled_report sets up emails to people outside your account, so each call waits for your OK by default. Once a call is approved, SpyFu starts the recurring emails with no further step.
- 05
Read the list back
The agent calls list_scheduled_reports again and compares it with your request. A client missing from it, or a recipient that SpyFu did not keep, goes into the report to you.
What you get back
Clients in your list: 6
Scheduled 4 (Domain Overview, monthly), e.g. trailkick.com to maria@trailkick.com
Skipped 1: client-bakery.com already has a Domain Overview report
Not created 1: example-florist.com, no contact given
Now active in SpyFu: 9 reports Other ways to ask
- Every Monday, list scheduled reports with no active recipient and tell me which client to ask.
- Create a Ranking History report for trailkick.com and send it to me and to the client.
- Turn the report list into a table of client, page, recipients and schedule that I can paste into our wiki.
- Create reports for all new My Sites projects since last week and send them to me for review first.
What SpyFu allows, and what to know first
- SpyFu builds PDF reports from many pages, among them Domain Overview, SEO Keywords, Ranking History, Backlinks, Ad History and SERP Analysis.
- With a premium SpyFu membership the PDF opens on the spot in a new tab; without premium access it arrives by email.
- SpyFu lets you turn a recurring report off for as long as you like, or turn off the emails for one person at a time.
- The front page title and comments are a white label feature that SpyFu limits to certain plans.
create_scheduled_report asks for your OK by default. To run it weekly without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.
