Yousign automation
Send Yousign contracts from a template with AI
Every new freelancer or client needs the same agreement, and every time someone opens Yousign, picks the template, retypes the signer and clicks send.
Cotlet does it in your own Yousign account with list_templates, create_signature_request and send_signature_request, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.
Hosted · nothing to install or maintain
Can Yousign do this on its own?
Yousign's AI connector can send a request from an existing template, with recipient details taken from your prompt, on every plan (checked 20 Oct 2026). The REST API does the same with template_id, but only on a paid API plan. The Zapier app has no action that creates or sends a signature request. Nothing here sends a batch of drafts you review first.
How you do it in Yousign today
- An owner, administrator or member creates the template once: Signatures > Templates > New Template, imports the PDF or DOCX, adds signers and drags the fields onto the document.
- A signer can be recurring, who signs every request made from the template, or a placeholder with a role name such as Client or Employee, filled in later.
- For each deal, the user opens the Templates page, clicks the "..." to the right of the template and chooses "Create signature request from Template".
- The user replaces each placeholder signer with a real person and fills every empty Read-only Text field marked "Fill this field later".
- The request stays in Draft until the user sends it, now or scheduled from 30 minutes to 30 days later, and the same four steps repeat for the next signer.
How to send Yousign contracts from a template with AI
Take the Freelance agreement template, create a request for ana@example.com as Contractor, show me the draft and send it after I say OK. - 01
Pick an active template
Your agent reads list_templates and keeps only templates in Active status, because Yousign creates a request from a template only when it is active. If your prompt names a template that is not active, the agent stops and says so.
- 02
Match signers to roles
Each placeholder signer in the template has a role name. The agent maps the people in your prompt to those roles and stops if a role has no person, so nobody is invited under the wrong role.
- 03
Fill the empty text fields
Every Read-only Text field set to "Fill this field later" needs a value, such as a fee or a start date. The agent takes it from your prompt and asks for any value it cannot find instead of guessing.
- 04
Create the draft and show it
create_signature_request makes the draft. It reaches no one, so it runs without asking. The agent returns the name, signers and filled fields for you to check.
- 05
Send after your OK
send_signature_request moves the draft to sent and Yousign emails each signer. It asks for your OK by default, until you switch confirmation off for this tool.
What you get back
Template: Freelance agreement (Active)
Draft created: Freelance agreement, Ana Lopez (Contractor)
Read-only text filled: Monthly fee = 2,400 EUR
Sent to 1 signer, status In progress Other ways to ask
- Send the NDA template to every address in this list and let me see each draft before it goes.
- Create the draft only and tell me which fields are still empty.
- Use last month's Service agreement template for Northwind GmbH and add me as follower.
What Yousign allows, and what to know first
- Yousign creates a request from a template only when the template is Active, and a request stays in Draft until it is sent.
- Templates are not available on the Free plan: the One plan has 1 template, and Plus and Pro have unlimited templates.
- Only the app creates templates; a request from a template needs a placeholder signer replaced by a real one and every empty Read-only Text field filled.
- A request holds up to 100 signers and up to 50 documents of 50 MB each, in PDF or DOCX.
send_signature_request asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to connect Yousign to Cotlet?
Yes. You sign in to Yousign yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Yousign once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
