Formstack automation
Fix typos in Formstack submissions
People mistype their email as gmial.com, and the confirmation never arrives. Each wrong entry has to be found, opened and corrected in Formstack by hand.
Cotlet does it in your own Formstack account with list_submissions, get_submission and update_submission, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.
Hosted · nothing to install or maintain
Can Formstack do this on its own?
Formstack's Forms API has an update call for a submission (checked 22 Oct 2026). It needs the API add-on, a Personal Access Token and your own code. The web app edits one submission at a time in the single view, and Formstack has no MCP server.
How you do it in Formstack today
- An admin opens the form, selects the Submissions tab and finds the entry with the search bar or a custom filter of up to five criteria.
- Clicking the submission opens the single view, which shows the data submitted, the browser, the IP address and the unique ID.
- Above the submission details the admin clicks edit, changes the field and clicks save.
- Editing exists only in the single view, so every wrong entry is its own open, edit and save.
- Formstack cannot revert an edit: to restore the old value the admin edits the submission again.
How to fix typos in Formstack submissions
In Event registration, find submissions where the email ends in gmial.com or gmail.con, correct the domain, and list anything else that looks wrong for me. - 01
Find the suspects
list_submissions runs with query set to the typo, the same text search as the Submissions tab, and a view of all, read, unread or favorited. The agent follows next_cursor until the list ends, so a long form is read as one batch.
- 02
Read the whole entry
get_submission returns every answer plus the integration status Formstack shows in the single view. A failed integration shows in red in the table, and the agent reports it, because correcting the entry does not run the integration again.
- 03
Fix only the sure cases
A domain with one wrong letter is corrected. A name, a phone number or an email with an unclear typo goes on your list with the value and the form, so the agent never guesses.
- 04
Save the edit
update_submission sends only the changed fields. The response holds the old value of each, which the agent keeps in its report, because Formstack has no revert. Each edit waits for your OK by default.
- 05
Report old and new
The agent lists each corrected submission with the old and the new value, and the entries it left for you with the form name, so you can revert any edit.
What you get back
Submissions with a mistyped email: 7
Corrected 5, e.g. jordan.ellis@gmial.com to jordan.ellis@gmail.com
Left for you 2:
- "ava.kim@gmail" (no domain ending)
- "lee@@example.com" (two @)
Old values saved in this chat Other ways to ask
- Fix the casing of names in Event registration: "jORDAN ellis" should be "Jordan Ellis".
- Strip spaces around phone numbers in every submission from this week.
- Only list submissions with a mistyped email domain and change nothing.
What Formstack allows, and what to know first
- Formstack allows editing only in the single-submission view, and an edit cannot be reverted to a previous version except by editing again.
- The app's custom filter takes up to five criteria; the agent reads the text matches and does the finer sorting itself.
- Formstack counts stored submissions per form: on the Starter plan a form stores 1,000, and entries after that are emailed to you instead of stored, so they cannot be edited in Formstack.
- A submission with a failed integration shows in red in the table, and the single view can run that integration again.
update_submission asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.

Is it safe to connect Formstack to Cotlet?
Yes. You sign in to Formstack yourself, in your own Cloud Browser in the EU, and we never save your password. Your agents only get Formstack once you enable it, every background request is listed, and the browser profile is stored encrypted with AES-256-GCM, the cipher 1Password uses for its vaults. The AI model never sees a login, posts and messages wait for your OK, and Disable for agents cuts access in one click. Independent scanners grade cotlet.dev A+ on Qualys SSL Labs, securityheaders.com and Mozilla Observatory; live results are on https://cotlet.dev/security.
