Approve Rently Safe Mode viewing requests
With Safe Mode on, every self-tour a prospect books in Rently waits for a person to click Grant Access. Requests made on a Friday evening sit in the SafeMode Requests pop-up until someone opens Tour Manager, while the prospect who wanted to tour Saturday morning keeps waiting.
Cotlet does it in your own Rently account with list_safe_mode_requests, get_lead, grant_safe_mode_access, dismiss_safe_mode_request and ban_prospect, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Can Rently do this on its own?
Rently has no API call to approve or dismiss a Safe Mode request (checked 12 Oct 2026). The Activities Notification webhook, which your Client Success Manager sets up, sends a "Safe Mode" event when a prospect requests a showing on a Safe Mode property, but the decision itself is only possible in Rently Tour Manager.
By hand
How you do it in Rently today
- Safe Mode is switched on in Rently Tour Manager under Self Showing > Settings > Invite Type > Safe Mode, for all properties or for selected ones.
- To review requests, open Prospects > Leads in the left sidebar and click SafeMode Requests in the upper right corner.
- Rently lists the waiting requests in a pop-up; approving one means clicking Grant Access, declining one means clicking Dismiss.
- Checking who the prospect is takes a second trip: close the pop-up, find the lead on the Leads page and read the details panel on the right.
- Each request needs its own Grant Access or Dismiss click, so approvals wait until someone with Rently Tour Manager open gets to the pop-up.

How to approve Rently Safe Mode viewing requests
Prompt
Go through the pending Safe Mode requests in Rently. Approve prospects with a phone and email who are not banned and have no complaint in their comments, dismiss anyone who asked to pay a deposit before touring, and leave the rest for me. - 01
Collect what is waiting
Your agent reads the SafeMode Requests queue and sorts it by the scheduled tour time, so the request for this afternoon is decided before the one for next week.
- 02
Read each prospect before deciding
For every request it opens the lead with get_lead and checks your rules: phone and email present, comments, earlier tours of your homes, and the source the lead came from.
- 03
Approve the clear cases
Prospects who pass every rule get grant_safe_mode_access. Each grant asks for your OK unless you switched confirmation off for that tool, so the first runs show you every name before Rently lets anyone in.
- 04
Dismiss or flag the risky ones
A request that matches a red flag you named (deposit talk, a known scam phone number, a home that is already leased) is dismissed. Banning is never automatic: the agent proposes ban_prospect with a reason and waits for you.
- 05
Leave the gray zone alone
Anything your rules do not cover stays pending in Rently, and the agent lists it with the reason it stopped, so you decide those few by hand.
What you get back
Example data
Safe Mode queue, 6 requests
Approved 4: Maya Brooks (88 Elm Ave, today 5:00 PM), Luis Ortega, Priya Shah, Tom Feld
Dismissed 1: "J. Carter" at 412 Oak St, comment asks to wire a deposit before the tour
Pending for you 1: Dana Wills at 19 Birch Ct, no email on the lead
Proposed ban: J. Carter, waiting for your OK Other ways to ask
- Every two hours between 8 AM and 8 PM, approve Safe Mode requests for 88 Elm Ave and 19 Birch Ct only.
- List today's Safe Mode requests with each prospect's comments, but do not approve anything.
- Dismiss Safe Mode requests for any home I marked off market this week.
Before you automate it
What Rently allows, and what to know first
- Rently applies Safe Mode per company setting: the Invite Type under Self Showing > Settings covers either all properties or a list of selected properties.
- The Leasing and Leads role in Rently Tour Manager can only view leads and cannot change self-showing settings, so turning Safe Mode on or off needs a role with self-showing settings access, such as Admin.
- Rently bans a prospect from the lead's details panel on the Leads page: the profile icon with an x opens a Ban Prospect box that requires a reason, and the same icon lifts the ban again.
grant_safe_mode_access, dismiss_safe_mode_request and ban_prospect ask for your OK by default. To run it daily without you, switch confirmation off for those tools in your dashboard.
