Turn off Rently self-touring when a home is leased

A lease gets signed on Tuesday, but the home stays bookable in the Rently Tours app until someone flips its toggle. Meanwhile renters keep scheduling tours of a home they cannot rent.

Cotlet does it in your own Rently account with list_properties, list_safe_mode_requests, set_self_touring and dismiss_safe_mode_request, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Can Rently do this on its own?

Rently changes listing status through an hourly JSON property feed from your own system, where active and prelease decide between auto showing, waitlist and off market (checked 12 Oct 2026). There is no on-demand call to switch one home off, and accounts without a property management integration change status by hand.

By hand

How you do it in Rently today

  1. Single-family accounts in Rently Tour Manager keep each home's ON Market or off-market status under Properties > All Properties; ON Market then offers Agent Showing, Self-Showing or Waitlist.
  2. Multifamily accounts: open Properties > Units, choose the Community from the dropdown, select the unit and move the Self-Touring toggle from On to Off, then click Yes in the pop-up.
  3. Safe Mode requests already queued for that home are reviewed separately, under Prospects > Leads > SafeMode Requests.
  4. The switch is one home at a time, and a home missed after a lease signing stays bookable in the Rently Tours app.

How to turn off Rently self-touring when a home is leased

Prompt

412 Oak St and 19 Birch Ct are leased. Turn off self-touring at both, dismiss any Safe Mode requests still waiting there, and tell me if either one comes from our PMS feed.
  1. 01

    Match the address

Your agent searches list_properties for each address or CRM tag you gave. Two matches (unit numbers, a duplicate listing) make it stop and ask which one, instead of switching off the wrong home.

  2. 02

    Check the current state

A home already off market is reported and skipped. A home on waitlist is switched off only if you said the lease is signed, not just pre-leased.

  3. 03

    Switch it off

set_self_touring with enabled false closes self-guided tours for that home. The change is undone with one more call if the lease falls through.

  4. 04

    Clear what is still queued

It reads the Safe Mode queue and offers to dismiss every request for the leased home, each one with your OK by default.

  5. 05

    Warn about the feed

If the home carries a CRM tag, it comes from your property management system. The agent tells you to mark it leased there as well, because Rently reads that feed every hour.

What you get back

Example data

412 Oak St: self-touring off (was on), 1 Safe Mode request dismissed
19 Birch Ct: self-touring off (was on), no requests waiting
19 Birch Ct has CRM tag GA16075: also mark it leased in your PMS

Other ways to ask

  • Every Friday, turn off self-touring for every home whose lease I added to this sheet.
  • The lease at 412 Oak St fell through. Turn self-touring back on there.
  • List on-market homes that still have self-touring on, so I can check which are actually leased.

Before you automate it

What Rently allows, and what to know first

  • In Rently's property feed, active false with prelease false means off market, while active false with prelease true means waitlist (unmarketed).
  • Rently processes the property feed hourly, and properties missing from the feed are inactivated in Rently.
  • The Activity Log of a Rently property records the most recent Self-Showing Deactivated date, so the switch-off is visible afterwards in Properties > All Properties > Activity Log.
  • A Rently property with no lockbox in the feed (an empty or missing lockbox field) is put on waitlist instead of self-showing.

dismiss_safe_mode_request asks for your OK by default. To run it on a schedule without you, switch confirmation off for that tool in your dashboard.
