Rently automation · runs daily
Assign Rently leads to agents automatically
Each morning the Leads page in Rently Tour Manager shows new prospects from Zillow, your website and the Rently Tours app with no agent assigned. Someone has to open the list, work out which home each lead toured and pick an agent, one lead at a time.
Cotlet does it in your own Rently account with list_leads, get_lead and assign_lead, called by your AI agent, an n8n workflow or a script.

Can Rently do this on its own?
Rently has no API call to assign a lead (checked 12 Oct 2026). The Leads Report lists assigned_agent as a field, and webhooks send tour events out, but both are read-only and set up by Rently staff. The Auto Assign option in Agent Showing settings only round-robins agent-showing appointments, not leads.
By hand
How you do it in Rently today
- In Rently Tour Manager, open Prospects > Leads in the left sidebar.
- Pick the view (All Leads, iQual+ Leads or Safe Mode Leads) and the period next to "Last 1 month": Last 1 month, Last 3 months, Last 6 months or All Leads.
- To assign a lead, click the arrow next to Agents and choose who follows up.
- Repeat for every new lead. Rently's help center documents assignment only as this one-lead-at-a-time choice, so a lead missed on Monday can sit without an owner until someone scans the list again.
With an agent
How to assign Rently leads to agents automatically
Prompt
Find Rently leads from the last month with no agent. Give leads for the Charlotte homes to Anna, the Rock Hill homes to Mark, and split anything else between them evenly. - 01
Pull only the unassigned leads
Your agent asks list_leads for leads without an agent in the period you named. Leads someone already picked up are never touched, so a manual choice is never overwritten.
- 02
Work out where each lead belongs
For each lead it opens get_lead and reads the homes the prospect toured and the source. Your routing rule (by city, by property, by source) decides the agent; when a lead toured homes in two areas, the most recent tour wins.
- 03
Balance the rest
Leads that match no rule are dealt out in turn across the agents you listed, starting with whoever got the fewest today.
- 04
Assign and skip what cannot be routed
assign_lead runs for each decision. A lead with no tour and no property in its comments is left unassigned and reported, instead of being guessed onto someone.
What you get back
Example data
14 unassigned leads since Oct 1
Anna: 6 (Charlotte homes, 4 from Zillow, 2 from your website)
Mark: 5 (Rock Hill homes)
Even split of 2 with no area: Anna 1, Mark 1
Left unassigned 1: Chris Dunn, no tour and no property mentioned Other ways to ask
- Assign every new iQual+ lead to Anna first, before the other leads.
- Each weekday at 8 AM, give yesterday's unassigned leads to whoever is on duty in this list: Mon/Wed Anna, Tue/Thu Mark, Fri Jo.
- Show me how many leads each agent has from the last 3 months, without changing anything.
Before you automate it
What Rently allows, and what to know first
- Rently's Leasing and Leads role can only view leads, so the account that assigns them needs a broader role such as Admin or Super Admin.
- Rently sends an agent an Inquiry Email when a lead inquires from a listing site, but only if Inquiry Email is selected in that agent's Notifications under Company > Agents.
- A Rently agent can be limited to Selected Properties when added under Company > Agents, so a lead is best routed to an agent who covers the home that lead toured.
- Rently's Verified Renter service color-codes leads in the manager dashboard by how well they match your Rental Criteria, so strong matches can be routed first.
assign_lead changes only your own Rently data and reach no one else, so it runs without asking first.

Frequently asked questions
Does the lead find out it was assigned?
No. assign_lead only changes the Agent field in Rently and reaches no renter, which is why it runs without asking for your OK.
